    Ah, sorry about that, wife rang to update me and commented on the lack of IT eqpt. in the office! (and quoted current food and hygiene regs!) Look forward to watching it this w/e. I remember being on approach to Cambridge in a pa 28 and being overtaken by Suckling -those were the days!

    Ironically there is a mini estate of prefabs at the back of the Ciba Geigy plant at Duxford, also some two storey in Sawston, wonder if the museum realised all that when they acquired theirs?

    Right. Thought about this.

    Confusion and Solution.

    Marshalls was used for people arriving at an airfield. Now, if not this episode then it was an episode where Marshalls was used was as a mock up for maybe Toulouse? Had a look, can’t find the newspaper cutting/ magazine so . Didn’t see it the other night so relying on memory.

    The art deco building featured in the film is the present reception building at Marshalls airport. A feature on the make over for the filming was in the Cambridge Evening News and one of the monthlies at the time it was filmed.

    Its why I posted it was Marshalls originally. :confused:

    Which just helps to re inforce the fact that as stated earlier it was Marshalls reception at Cambridge………….

    Not all at Duxford.

    Tower = Marshalls, Cambridge

    wondered what the chances are of the IWM buying land on the Royston side of the airfield and extend the runway that way.Maybe they can negotiate a way of compensation from the motorway services devlopers that will enable them to fund the purchase [assuming the landowner would sell.].

    You guys really are out of touch. There is already outline planning permission for exactly such a proposal. Actually it must be up for renewal soon…..

    They numbered about 4 back in ’91 & christ knows how many volunteers.

    In a funny old way I guess that buying a new engine for the Hawk , flying it and two people to fit it from the States, Replacement heads for a Merlin, New Piston , (and gudgeon pin) for P47, canopy bits for mk 14 isn’t that cheap. I guess that in some way we all helped with that effort by buying tickets didn’t we?
