From Mr. Ajai Shukla, Delays for Indian FGFA
    http://ajaishukla.blogspot.de/2012/05/delays-challenges-for-indo-russian_16.html

Its too far out, till the end of the decade 🙁 .
$100m target may not be achievable in 2020.

heh ? what kind of armor ? classic RHA ? multilayered composite ? ERA ? NERA ? 😮

Something like a composite equivalent of Frag Kit 6. Of course NATO is eagerly waiting the defection of some PAF pilots with their JF 17 to get hold of this tech.

IIRC, the AMRAAM’s likely burn-through is measured in kilometers, not hundreds of meters. Overshoot is not likely.

Also, with the 120D coming soon, the target’s precise GPS coordinates can be supplied to the 120D which will make evading via jamming/decoy all the more unlikely.

What about ballistic cruise glide top attack profiles for the likes of R 37/K 100/RVV BD :diablo: That 60Kg fragmenting warhead does not need to hit, close enough is ok, in fact it has better chance of success by not impacting the aircraft. Their motors burns out long before terminal phase and it comes down on the aircraft from above at high speeds.

Of course none of this will change the outcome as the JF 17 also carries substantial armor.

I am not trying to sound like an F-22 fan-boy, but the capability is tough to deny.

That is true but here we are guilty of denying the true capabilities of the JF-17 Blunder.

China is a socialist country, and with no cost involved in manufacturing and all you need is dump truckloads of raw material and out comes the JF-17. Pakistan is one lucky country to have an ally like China. Chinese even willingly sacrificed the combat edge of the PLAAF to give Pakistan this jet instead. And that too for free. They pay for the fuel and the maintenance and the pilot training as well. True defenders of Freedom, Peace, Liberty , democracy, capitalism etc…

J-20 is still several years away. I tend to not compare with non-operational jets. J-20 shall have similar technology as Thunder Block 2.

    You mean Generation zwei? 😮

What about JF-17 vs J-20? Since F22 is doomed anyway, lets compare with J-20.

or perhaps LM pays some DoD officials a few millions bucks and keeps it hush hush 😀

Which is unlike China where everything is transparent and accountable.

that’s not very smart.. what if a pilot defects with his F-22? the US has a history of pilots defecting to Cuba.

the Cubans could get their hands on it and produce El Veintidos Socialistas

But the bigger problem is what if a Pakistani Pilot defect with his JF 17 to NATO? What about all the sensitive tech that will be reverse engineered by the wily Americans?

Ever been to East Germany when it was so? For me, as an American, it was a scary place that I just wanted to leave. I was there as a teenager a couple of years before the wall fell, visiting family. I was watched considerably.

A lot has changed since 1990. ;). But lets spare this thread.

    What about the DSI intakes?

I got it, Here is the stealthiest shape ever, two ball shaped DSI intakes plus a long cylindrical fuselage with semi spherical edges.

the most stealthy shape is a ball. F-22 has a huge surface area from every angle, I highly doubt its shaping is stealthy at all 😀

True Indeed. I guess the stealthiest aircraft would be these since they are closest to the shape of a ball, Plus the waves would just pass through …

Btw, what does DDR stand for? I know former east Germany was abbreviated as GDR iirc, but what is DDR, GDR AF?

Deutsche Demokratische Republik = German Democratic Republic
Bundesrepublik Deutschland = Federal Republic of Germany
