The missiles in this photo looks a bit out of place. Can anyone confirm if this is genuine.
Only problem with Road Mobile missiles is less Throw weight (ca 1250 kg for RT-2UTTKh).
Rail Mobile Missiles can however be of higher throw weight (ca 4000 kg for RT-23 UTTKh)
Road mobile TELs like the ones for the RT-2UTTKh have lots of wheels to distribute the weight so that the TEL does not get bogged down on soft ground and does not exert excess stress on the road surface that would cause it to give way under the concentrated weight.
I am wondering if the RSM 56 could be adapted for land use, its quite short @ 12 m with Container, although stubby, but just about as much as the Agni V, shorter than the Trident as well although at lesser throw weights. For Indian requirements they can move it around in the typical Grain carrier 😀
That Agni TEL certainly does not look like it has off road capability.
This would be the benchmark to aim for.

Especially since each modern military transport is be powered by a fighter engine !
Indeed you can go on full AB all the way from the base to the theater and back… :diablo:
Boris Obnosov on new Naval and A2A/A2G Missiles…

What are the chances that this new engine has variable bypass ratio?
I read somewhere that the F135 already reached excess of 2200 K Inlet Temperatures
The 23mm gun on the new Hinds has less kick than the 30mm gun it replaces so its less of an issue and they can go with a turret. The Apache’s gun has a much higher rate of fire and fires a much smaller 30mm round which also produces less kick. The high rate of fire makes up for the loss in accuracy by giving you more of a shot gun effect, but the shells are not effective against heavy armor. Its a question of compromise.
True.
30 x 113 vs 30 x 165

Didn’t they have this already?
Its the same story with F-35. It does not need top speed of 2 Mach.
It will cruise faster than most 4th Gen figher with any usefull load-up.
It may be true but the F35 is getting bad PR this being one of the reasons.
Still I think speed may be essential, not all the time but when you need to reach the engagement zone within the window of opportunity or get outside the NEZ of a BVRAAM etc.
Hopefully the PAK FA retains the maneuverability after the structural surgery otherwise it is starting to sound LMish.
Old vid but this is awesome

It looked as if the chopper is trying to do a backwards loop at 2:00
Mi 34S
IIRC newer engine have longer technical life so while you spend few more fuel you save engine….
Indeed I read in AW that the new engines have improved durability … however as havaarla mentioned terrain hugging with a huge Su34 strike a/c at high speeds will give very small ranges.
Its getting close
This is Salyut problem.. where will this AL-31FM2 engine fit into VVS inventory:confused:
It will fit nicely in PLAAF inventory … given the chance.:diablo:
