T-50-4 will be very lucky to fly by next April fools’ given the major structural changes currently being implemented to strengthen its high g load bearing capacityโ€ฆ..but look on the bright side, a tail-less T-50-1 will reach Monino much (much) sooner than expected!! YAAAY!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Also, informed opinion has it that Izdeliye/Type 30 engine will generate a whopping 18T (wet) and 11.5T (dry), thatโ€™s 39,700 & 25,350lbs respectively!!…oh, and will be ready for installation aboard serial machines by 2020.

Hmmm … Thanks for the info there Asakura-san.

Major structural changes… well isn’t that going to bring some weight penalties? Any idea whether the problem is related to composites or titanium/alloy structures?

Regarding the Engine thing I read somewhere that Saturn and Siemens installed new PLM SW that would cut engine development time by 5 – 6 years from the current 10 – 12 years. What happened then? Isn’t Stage 2 engine development started from 2010 based on this article

    http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?id=news/awst/2010/04/26/AW_04_26_2010_p31-221698.xml&channel=defense

I can no longer find the Siemens PLM link for the Saturn Facility but instead found that PD 14 is being developed with Siemens PLM SW
    http://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/en_in/about_us/newsroom/press/press_release.cfm?Component=135367&ComponentTemplate=822

Okay not specific to Saturn but here it is mentioned

My girlfriend was at work, HMV, today for just three hours, so I had to take that amount of short time to think up some evil things to do.

One of which. Shes due a new Mac Notebook to be picked up from the Apple store anyday now (her old one got damaged internally beyond repair, she spilt a full pint of milk all over the keyboard and now its Kaput, but the exterior is in mint condition) and luckily, our best mate bought one on Friday, the same model my girlfriend will be getting and the same model as the broken one. So I asked her (our mate) if I could lend all of the packaging, manuels, paper work, plugs, the Apple carry bag, the lot. So I started to wonder what I could do to the Mac. I couldn’t just put it in all the packaging without doing something to it first, and what do you know, I had a full tube of Super Glue. So I proceeded to glue the Mac shut, give it a little polish to give it that little bit more sparkle and placed it all in the correct packaging with everything else, the full works. It looked fresh from the store.

So, she rang me when she finished work to see how things were & all. And I told her that I got a call on our house phone from the Apple store in Newcastle saying her new Mac is ready for collection. And with me being a Gentleman :diablo: I said I’d went down to collect it on her behalf, plus I hadn’t much else to do and it’s a beautiful day outside. She was incredibly thankful (I WAS on a promise tonight, if you know what I mean. *wink-wink*)

So as it were she was very, very, very excited to get back home to get loose on her “new” Mac and the inevitable was about to happen…

…To cut the long story short. It was quite an experience, a lot of anger, hatred, abusive language and general displeasure was thrown in my general direction…Including the Mac and some of the contents…But it was funny and being the lovely lass she usually is, she seen the funny side of it…After about half an hour or so later. :diablo:

Was it rude of me to ask if my promise was still on offer tonight? She said something along the lines of, “Fek off, you limey wanka rectum hole booby face, pwik, fanny”…Or something.

Oh, and I tied her underwear (*Cough* “bedroom ones” *cough*) to the front door too! :diablo:

    :dev2: Good One…

Probably the only thing related to aviation in this case was the Macbook flying at low altitude. :D:D

In our nuclear age, most of those multibillion dollar wonder weapons are just for posturing and keeping afloat national defence industries.
I hardly can imagine any useful application for the existing Russian aircraft carrier. But this doesn’t mean that Russia won’t going to spend another billions of dollars so as to look like a big boy in the yard.

What do you mean Nuclear Age? I hope you are not serious. By that logic Georgia, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Pakistan etc would have been radioactive wastelands.

    Interesting Info there TwinBlade.

Is it mentioned where these LCDs would go, The Integrated LCD looks confusing. They could rearrange those Widgets.

The MTA looks good. The PD-14 engines are big. Which ones are to be used? the base model or the derated model?

That’s your opinion. IMO, the best looking Tejas yet, although the Tejas Mk2 with the lengthier fuselage will be better looking for sure. As they say, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Is the metal already cut for the MK2 or is it still in the drawing board?
What is stopping the Indian Gov from awarding Tech Demonstrator contracts to private firms? I don’t think it would be a bad idea. I don’t believe there are no Indian companies that could develop decent Military grade Semiconductors, Radars, Rocket propellants, etc.
After all most private firms survive by constant adaptation and exponential learning curves.

Russia should abandon PAK-FA and get JF-17, as should all those poor F-35 partner nations.

    I will take two JF-17s please… to go…

Shadow = less light reflected back = more stealth, no? ๐Ÿ˜€

Very true indeed, Assuming there is just a single light source and zero diffraction and the object is just next to the light source , you can expect close to 50% of the spherical proximity to be shadowed. That would mean 100% shadow. which of course means 100% stealth.

Would a sphere be the best possible stealth shape given that at any direction only a single point gives the maximum degree of reflection? ๐Ÿ˜€

How does it matter. You can see a sphere just as much as you can see certain facet of an object.

Brilliant. Some of us who actually go to graduate school to study this stuff now regret at the quality of education we receive.

    :D:D
Indeed. When all you need to do is gaze at the sun and lo and behold watch dynamics and kinetics unravelled before your naked eyes.
Of course some people also have other Cells in their Eyes besides Rod/Cone cells that makes them sensitive to much longer wavelengths of the EM spectrum, including doppler shift recognition with their eyeballs.

maybe we succedd to find also the rumoured microwave owen inside as well…:D

The Microwave is already there. Just add a mechanism to put and retrieve the food in front of radar. Well not ideal ISM frequency but it will heat no doubt. :dev2: New AESA development will focus on this aspect as well to concentrate Energy on small angle. :D. A2A/ A2G scan and A2Oven Mode supported while tracking several targets.
