Since I don’t want to derail the PAKFA thread, why won’t India go for the F35A anyway, not much ToT anyway they are going to get either ways. AMCA is India’s future not PAKFA. Few squdrons of F35A in the IAF, would like to see that.
How much were the Contracts for aircrafts with the US anyway so far, Chinooks+AH64+P8I+C17+C130. Should have crossed 30 Billions at least. US is also providing the F414 besides that.

The future of the US interests are in Asia and I think India is a great fit. Not as a sidekick but based on mutual interests. Considering that US companies invests/outsource far more than other countries, they already have lots of cooperation already.

I know its expensive in Moscow, St Petersburg and several others but not the whole country. But it is very expensive here in the EU as well. After taxes and insurances you lose close to 40% of your income. Heating cost, mobile rentals, car servicing, etc cost an arm and a leg. Call any service to fix stuff in your house and you will be poorer by several hundred Euros. The Only reason we can afford to go on holiday is because most we travel south :). I went on Holiday North, but its freaking expensive. I never tried again.
Perhaps I go on holdiay to Sochi next year.

Actually it is not at all misleading and certainly not wrong. Nominal is useful for a **** contest, or for countries that do a lot of importing, but to estimate how rich the people are in their OWN country PPP is far more useful. 1000 Dollars will go a long in countries like India, Russia etc compared to say USA. A guy earning 4000 USD in Russia is certainly a lot richer than a guy earning 4000 USD in USA. However imported goods still are costly even though domestically produced goods and services are normalized just as the earnings are.
e.g. Indian economy was growing at 4-5 % from 2011-2012 in Rupess, but in Dollars it actually went through recession. Using PPP in this case will show India growing albeit at slow rate but using Nominal India is in recession. But the real deal is that India was growing but the INR tanking vs dollars means in Nominal the economy is receding. Therefore it would make more sense to use PPP.
