Just came back from 3 weeks in New Zealands south island sightseeing and visiting aeroplane museums (Ashburton aviation museum well worth a visit) got a copy of “gateway to the ice-christchurch international airport-antarctic air links from 1955” by Tony Phillips in the antarctic centre at the airport an excellent book full of rare photographs of US and NZ aircraft from 1955-2001

    grail call

I work in IT and have always wanted to get one of these calls to see exactly what they were trying to get access to as many of the people I deal with have had similar calls, about 4 weeks ago on a Saturday morning I finally got my wish.. after making them spell out everything slowly “how do you spell event, what do you mean by cmd etc her patience was wearing thin, 30 minutes of slow progress can do this to you:diablo:
I then told her that 12 years in IT support meant that I thought if I had any issues I would see to them myself, she put the phone down on me:diablo:
the reason I called it a grail call is most of the guys I work with are dying to cause these people more inconvenience but we never seem to get them

    New year reading

I am in the middle of reading Max Hastings new work “All hell let loose: the world at war” on my kindle, I am a bit disappointed however I dont think it is anywhere near as good as his other world war 2 books “Armageddon” or “Nemesis” which I personally thought was excellent.

Just a question about the language used by both the tower and the pilot in the video they were both speaking in spanish I always thought that tower/aircraft communications had to be in English or has something changed?
