    Flight situation update from CNN,

Air Canada has suspended all flights becasue main operating base is without power, United has cancelled over 500 flights. Various other airlines have suspended flights to New YOrk and other affected areas. Hate to be travelling today!

And ren, if you mean that canadians and americans hate each other, its more like this. The vast majority of americans have no idea where Canada is or that it even exists. Canadians find Americans ignorant and big headed. I have nothing against the americans tho, i find them quite kind and friendly people! Someday the stereotype shall go away.

I hope that wasn’t a sarcastic remark. But what i don’t understand is why north eastern us and southern ontario share the same power grid?

Ya so an update on the cause, it was a power station in Southern Ontario, IT was struck by lightnong causeing an overload and then the domino affect talked about earlier took out the eniter power grid consisting of some 30 power generators. Some areas are back with power right now with occasional rolling blackouts. Others are still without power and they could be for another day or so. Best of luck to anyone caught travelling in these areas!

hmmm i can’t seem to get the hang of these postings so i’ll just send you the links.

This first one is a small facility in northern russia with a couple odd hangers lying around

    Storage 1

This next one is on the larger side in the moscow area, note the large concentration of hangers.

    Storage 2

The last one I found had no details on its location but if you look closely there are a couple aircraft near the hanger area (i think but my eyesight is lame so don’t hold me to it)

    Storage 3

    Hope that works.

I looked around the internet and found out some interesting things.

Unlike American and European Aircraft, which are stored in relativly one place, russian aircraft are stored in various different location in the north eastern hemisphere. Most used aircraft reside in various air force bases in russia. An interesting fact is that becasue of the climate they stay in ahngers and are stripped rather quickly to conserve space. Others travel to the middle east for there resting grounds. I’ve looked around and found these pictures that might be of interest

Here you can see various hangers lying around this northern russian base.

    Just an Update,

I’ve been givin the choice of some interesting routes 😀 and i would like to see your input.

I can fly Calgary – Toronto (about a 2 hour flight) once a day each way on a 737-700 (my fav)

I can fly Calgary – Edmonton (about a 35 minute flight) thrice a day each way excluding mondays and tuesdays on a 737-200 (lots of flying but incredibly repetative)

Or I can sign up for Charter Services flying 737-700’s whenever they need me (This would be awesome except its a bit unpredictable and i’m not sure if my schedual would pull through)

So WestJet truns out to be an awesome airline in terms of meeting the needs of the pilot! I’m looking forward to flying again! I’ll get you some pics as soon as I can!

I’m not sure if any canadian airlines fly down there yet, perhaps a couple charters connecting through the states but not with my airline
