Just seen on Sky T.V. That the Olympic Games has cost 11 Billion GB Pounds, and may well be higher.
This is for an event that will last for just 17 days.
Is this worth the money, when it could have been spent on better things?.Jim.

Your last comment is in poor taste, considering her injuries are said to be ‘life threatening’.
Point taken though.
A beautiful lady test driver, she must be saved!

On the saturday the place was rammed!
Regarding younger pilots, well, there will always be pilots, probably queuing up to fly these dream machines. If not, i’ll be happy to oblige as long as they put me through my PPL. 😀
I have never been to Old Warden, but at the beginning of this year I made a promise to myself to get there this year. Unfortunately i haven’t been able to make it there yet.
I would nevertheless, like to pass on my condolences to those who are suffering from their loss, but also my best wishes to the team at Old Warden, with my fingers crossed their year will improve ASAP.
You have yourself a lifelong supporter here, and I haven’t even visited yet!
Great photos and great blog. Very strange coincidence, I remember a young lady stood at the crowd line fence with a Canon and what looked like a 70-300 attached. Looked a lot like you. In fact I reckon it was you. The photo positions match up with my theory too. I was stood slightly behind and to your right. Young man in a blue t shirt all on my own.
Great view from that end, i’m sure some of the pilots play into it too, keeping low overhead etc.
Bloody hard panning when they shoot by from over the bank though.
What would be nice to see would be a restored airfield (including all appropriate domestic/technical/training buildings, bomb dumps, fuel installations, dispersal pans etc etc ) populated with the appropriate vehicles and a full squadron’s (or two) worth of replica aircraft, representing the site as it would have been during the war.
It would give an idea of the complexity and span of a wartime airfield.
It will never happen, but nice to ponder such a development
Imagine a fully recreated bomber airfield! Oh, somethings happening to my downstairs…:D
Good news, Gravity helps with dropping of UC, Just hoping the three can fly Sunday as I will be attending, when the hell will you see three MK1s like that?
He came straight in with no problems (after a circuit to presumably gain some space and lower the UC) so hopefully there was no lasting technical issue and you will get to see them. I have to say even for that brief moment, it was pretty special seeing them all together.
How do i get to where you were standing for these?
Nice set.
Are they not a manual hand pump on the MK1’s so needed a bit more pumping if it did not lock in completely.
The wheel failed to retract fully. Fortunately they dropped fully and he aborted the display after one pass.
Still feel grateful for that pass alone.
****** it i’m going!
Sitting here fretting about the weather at DX tomorrow. Forecast for 10-2pmish is not good. Light showers 🙁
Whats your thoughts? I can’t decide whether to go or not.
In reply to woodbridge 10s post above, there is a no fly zone being imposed for the olympics that comes into force when Flying Legends would normally be held and it includes the area for Duxford and I think thats what the olympics have got to do with legends if I understand it correctly.
Ann
And just to add to this, it surely means that aircraft will be commited elsewhere which otherwise would have been available, if Legends was on its normal dates.
Thanks for sharing. I agree, and look forward to their next evening airshow, which i will be attending, regardless of weather conditions.
