Very nice shots here Alex

You saved the best for last this time.
If that is the BBMF Hurricane and Spitfires display you are referring to, I thnk they were the tops for me. Lovely formation followed by a tailchase. Well worth a match to Duxford Flying Legends.
I also thought the Thundrbirds were very good considering they could not do their full dislay due to too much cloud about. Certainly a much better display than when I saw them in Ireland in June. Tighter, more joined up and solid in formation.

One more

Good pics considering you have not sharpened them.

We had no problems with the step ladders, we had a Damien and a DAF 😉
Actually on a more serious note on one the days when the comentator requested step ladder users to go well back behind the crowdline, a small albeit muted cheer was heard on the M11 end. I am sure a few of the cheers were from average punters. That would indicate that there was a problem.
I did not have a problem myself as I was well back with my ladder which gave me better view between heads and sky.

Brilliant shots MARTIN like the Sally-b shot and the dersert Spitfire. who owns it?
James
Thanks James
The Spitfire is officialy owned by Spitfire Ltd but is effectively one of Tom Blair’s warbirds. He is probably in control of the company.

Hi
The following I have just copied from my Airshow Photography thread which gives some of my feedack on the show.
‘ My impression of Flying Legends 2007 is that it was probably one of the best in many years. The flying was very good, perhaps a little better on Sunday.
I did however notice that at a couple of times on both days, the choreography in the air did not seem quite to work out. Some aircraft flew high and others flew low to maintain separation. I am sure the intention was to swop and take turns in either position to display. Due to other aircraft movements on the Sunday, it looked to me that the Seafire was not getting much of an opportunity to come down lower to display nearer the crowd.
The Spitfire routine was different on both days. On Saturday, the Griffon Spits were on the inside track of the tailchase with the Merlin Spits taking the outer spot. On Sunday they swopped positions.
The Sea Fury displayed on Saturday but not Sunday due to an engine problem. Fortunately it was fixed in time for the balbo on Sunday.
The F15 did a dummy landing approach on Sunday but not Saturday.
And the F15 demo. I enjoyed it very much. The flypast in close formation with three piston warbirds was even better and superbly handled and well received by the average punter. I think the display slotted in well with as a commemoration to open the show’
As far as the rest of my feedbackis concerned, I know there are lots of complaints about step ladders. I used a step ladder on both days but I was positioned well back behind the bulk of the crowd line. Indeed just before the flying started on both days, the commentator requested people with step ladders to stand well back like I did. It all fell on death ears or rather foreigners or alledged foreigners who pretended they do not understand English. They were the worst culprits who were even standing on ladders whilst the aircraft were displaying up in the air even when nothing happening on the ground.
Once this starts then other people feel they have to get on their step ladders so that they can get a better view over those people who have just parked in front of them with their step ladders. It is a downwood spiral. I think 99 per cent of step ladders on the M11 end were within 10 feet of the very front of the crowd line.
I was positioned some 35-40 feet behind the front of the crowd line.

Thanks Global Express.
Here are some more pics, a few edited tonight.

Brilliant, fantastic pics and the backdrop.:)
Hi Rob. Some nice shots. I only first saw the raspberry ripple type Rapide on the Friday for the first time. Is it a rare appearance or recently restored or a familiar one that has been repainted?
Cheers

Nice pics. I particularly like the one where they are moving the props.
You can go in to the Park and Views on Wed, Thurs, Fri and Mon but only FRIAT members can go in to the FRIAT stand/enclosure open on Friday and Monday. There are Park and Views either end of the airfield.

I would love to see the display as well. RIAT perhaps?

Hi
Just back from the Waddington no air show today. Normally to get there by 7.30am I would leave at 4.30am but today I left home at 6.00am.
I should have noticed something was amiss when within five miles of the airfield there was an unusually large number of parked cars in lay-bys with families and other people chatting to each other.
Got to within a few hundred yards of the airfield and joined a queue of traffic. I drove over the second last hillock before the entrance only to see a policeman advising drivers the show was cancelled due to the car parks being flooded.
When it came to my turn to be informed I just drove home the 180 miles back to Hampshire where I had just driven up from! The drive to Waddington was very pleasant and very free of traffic and less than normal even for a Sunday morning.
I only went through heavy rain between Peterborough and Stevenage on the way home
It is a shame the crap weather last night put paid to the show. It was crap down here as well.
You can’t blame the organisers. I could have gone yesterday but the forecast was not good. At least I have saved on the entrance fee, programme and a burger.
Let’s hope for better weather very soon.
Martin
Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.
