Hi Rob

Nice pic of the Prentice. I was looking at your thread when all of a sudden your glider/sports plane tug pic appeared.

The glider display was very entertaining including the formation pass. I was very impressed when the glider pulled out at it’s normal level during the solo display prior to positioning to land.

Did you see me falling of my chair? Twice??

We must have been 5 feet apart again – near the first burger van this time!!!!

Were you one of the 3 Guys this time – all with lenses longer than my arm?

Agree, this year was very good – better than Cosford!

Anyway, I’m going to Branscombe, Yeovilton & Culdrose – see you there!!!

    ??? 🙁 🙁 🙁

    Hi Rob.

Culdrose is a bit too far away for me. Yeovilton would be nice to go to. I have been there before but it now clashes with Flying Legends and I prefer legends for the whole weekend. May go to Yeovilton arrivals day on Friday.

Branscombe. Yes! I think I can do that one but I am unable to find any info about it. All I have come across is a pic of a Hurricane and a Mustang at the airfield.

I was with my niece, sister and the spotter again. I was not too far away from the burger van. Branscombe looks like a small airfield so I will look out for you there.

Look forward to your pics later.

I too felt it was an excellent and varied show with something for everyone. Considering how cloudy it was these photographs are impressive.

Out of all the items one of my favourites was the glider and tug doing combined aerobatics – it was so unusual and competent that it drew a spontaneous round of applause from the whole crowd.

The static had its gems too – the E.28/39 FSM rightly drew a lot of attention – hard to realise it wasn’t “real”.

    Well done the organisers

I was at the show with my sister and niece. My niece enjoyed the Reds, Team Guinot and all the aerobatic aircraft. She was also impressed by the role demo and with the Chinook helicopter.

She was most impressed with the duo act between the tug and glider and so was I

Here is a link to a pic of the glider and tug. The image involved a lot of cropping.
I’ll put some of mine up later, in a separate thread. I would have done it earlier, but my little brother died on Sunday, and I didn’t learn until I went back to my car !! 🙁 🙁 :(
Hi Rob

I am very sorry to hear about your brother. My condolences to you and your family as well.

Thats some brilliant shots there thanks for sharing.

BTW is the Harrier not displaying this year.

    Thanks
    James

Adraid not. The Harrier was due to form part of the other demo team which comprised of two Typhoons, two Harriers and other aircraft but that team was cancelled. This means that the Tornado F3s and GR4s are dowing doing all the demos. There was not going to be a solo display of the Harrier this year.

So no Harrier at all. There was one on static at Kemble. Rather sad as it is a crowd favourite at any show.

    Thanks

    Hi Rob.

    Nice pic of the Herc.

Not sure if those two people were myself and somebody else. There was another person with a green flat cap about five feet to my right and a bit behind me with a longish black lens but he was not with me.

I was with a spotter who has no camera and is a bit older than me.

    Cheers

I agree Rob, the Typhoon does look bland in the all grey scheme. I think it would be nice to see one painted in a special more decorative scheme.

My favourite cold war aircraft is the Hunter and I would have settled for that as an addition to the flying display, though any one of them would have done.

I understand the ban on aerobatics on the Strikemaster amd JP may not be permanent but that would depend on the safety issues involved.

I am sorry to bring this up but what part of the BBMF display was not up to your expectations!!!!!!!! You got a solo Hurricane display, a Spitfire display, the Falcons drop from the Dakota and a display plus it landed on again to pick us up. Now, I don’t normally get annoyed BUT, the Lanc was displaying for veterans who lost many of their comrades fighting so that you could have your air displays in this country. THEY are the top priority as far as I’m concerned. Without them, where would we be?

As has already been mentioned on this forum about a month ago, the Lanc was NOT attending Cosford and yes, it is a shame, but as I said yesterday it cannot do everything. She only flies 100 hours per year.

I was happy with the BBMF Spit and Hurricane display, particularly when the both came round the corner together showing their tops. Shame about the light at the time. The Hurricane take off looked a bit dodgy to me for a few seconds.
