Lovely photos. Shame you only seemed to capture my passenger’s smile 😀
Sorry Trinny for not being attentive. Consider myself shamed 🙁 😮
Last one.
Some more. Click on thumbnails.
Was the Coastguard Islander just there for the airshow do you know? Its normal based at Manston 🙂
James
It did not take part in the airshow and it was not on the list to display. It landed back later in the afternoon. I do not know why it was at Lydd. Perhaps it may have been for maintenance purposes but I speculate.
Interestingly, when I checked G-INFO I found out that the plane is on charter and is registered to Atlantic Transport Ltd at Coventry airport which came as a surprise to me.
Same here looks brilliant love the Flypast of Classic British Jets hope next year they do that again but with the Bucc 🙂

And the V….n !
Nice pics.
Thanks everybody for all your kind comments re the pics.
Does not appear to be any Lyddites in the forum!
Fantastic Gary. The 2nd pic is……… I am lost for words!
Thought about it now. Perfect!
It is certainly true that the Hurricane shot down more enemy aircraft than the Spitfire in absoloute terms but what the kill ratios quoted here would lead me to believe that if we had an all Spitfire force we would have shot down significantly more enemy aircraft.
At a time when the edge against the the enemy was at it’s most important, the Hurricane was certainly there in greater numbers. However if you were their at the time taking the decisions, I am sure you would have wanted more Spitfires if was not for production problems.
The Battle of Britain was won due to a variety of reasons and a very close run thing it was. In any area where we could have had less of an edge than we did, then that could have proved pivotal in the enemies favour. For that reason, I believe the Spitfire played a pivotal role in our favour during Battle of Britain along with the Hurricane, Radar etc, etc.
The Hurricane because it was there in large numbers and the Spitfire due to it’s superior preformance and because there was enough of them to have made a difference in the actual fighting.
Thats my opinion anyway.
Nice photos Neal H. Did you get any more of us or our friends G-BTCH and G-AHNR?
Just seen the JP on another forum. Yes looks like it was at Kemble as well. Is that your JP then?
Looked at your site Skyraider. Your pics are very very nice.
There are more images of the Lydd airshow on my small pixel site.
The Coastguard Islander was indeed G-BCEN.
Out of four displays by this Canberra I have seen this year, the one at Lydd is the best so far.
It looked like it had gone verticle but I think the angle of view from my position just gave a misleading impression. In reality it was probably more of a dumbell type climb with a wingover at the top. But a very good one one!
A few more pics including G-BCEN taking off just before the show.

My hero :D:D
I guess you did not go to Kemble on Sunday after all! (you mentioned it in another forum)
Still I could be wrong – I have not downloaded my pics from the open day yet.
Nice pics Neal.
