Like the first Vixen shot
I was very pleased I managed to get to Dunkeswell, really thought the weather was going to be against us. After a bad start at Bodmin it cleared enough to allow us to set off to Dunkeswell to arrive before the cut off time. Flying the Champ up in company with an Aeronca Chief and Pietenpol Aircamper. The windy conditions at Dunkeswell made it hard work trying to convince the Champ it wanted to land, and it was even more fun trying to taxy in the direction the marshallers wanted!
Still I had a very enjoyable day and was even grateful for the long walk as it helped to warm me up!
The flight home was not helped by the sun shining through gaps in the cloud which reduced the visibilty. Whilst back at Bodmin the turbulent wind conditions made for another exciting landing!
Attached are a few photos, mostly showing some of the fly-in visitors not covered in the excellent posts from Lee and SEMAE.

Good static pics. Glad so many planes made it to the show.
Lee,
Nice photo’s in the other thread.
Any more please ?
Anybody else take any ?
And yes, the 15-20min walk from crowd line around to the static and other traders wasn’t funny. Dunkeswell shows of old (circa 92-93) just stretched it all along what was yesterdays static line. Hopefully Lottery will cough up for a repeat though.
I have just posted some on the photographic forum. Yes it was a long walk!
No, it was in the hanger all day. I went down at about 5pm and pulled it out so the Staggerwing could get back in the hanger but it was not ouside. There is a very red Wilga sitting on the end of the line but the Dearwings were safely inside.
Silly me! Thought there was something about those yellow tips on the end of each wing. I assumed they must have been slip ons attached to rope to keep the plane from being blown about. On 2nd thoughts probably not a good place from which to tie an aircraft down.
Case of seeing what you want to see!

Very nice pics Lea. This airshow of course was meant to be a one off. If there is any inclination to make it a yearly event, I certainly would have liked a bigger croud on the day. It was a very nice show and it would be great if it takes place again next year.
Excellent pics Daren. Glad the weather turned out o/k for Spitfire day.
It was a tad bumpy but I fly from Popham so should be used to it.
The hot weather didn’t help, I flew in with Shiney Simmons to get the Hurricane and managed a very passable approach with the speeds right on, the flare was fine but there was just no air underneath and we dropped the last couple of feet (probably six inches but it felt higher).
God knows what he had in his flight bag though!
Took a quick glance at Popham airstrip as I was motoring down the A303 to Dunkeswell. Think I saw your Cloudster sitting comfortably at the end of the line. It was still there on the way back so I guess everybody had their planes in the right place today!
I’ll be going – unless it’s tipping it down.

Looks like the weather is going to be quite good on Sunday in this part of the world.
Excelent. A wealth of info here. Def will be there. Looking forward to it.

Oh! – and an excellent airshow
very nice pics. Like the take off shots. The haze was not helped by a combine harvester chucking up crop dust our way ever now and again the other side of the airfield behind the trees. However eveybody has a job to do particularly a farmer.
Excellent. Thanks a lot Dave T for Blackdown Hills link. Very helpfull. Also Yak 11, nice to see Janie attending.
I will be going to he show. See you there.
