PAPATANGO. Welcome. I was expecting a welcoming committee at the AVP but it was deserted. It looked closed, having said that, Manchester was basking in its normal crap weather so that may be why?
My contacts tell me that there are industrial disputes around Europe (France?) that have caused the 737’s to be all out of position.
Yea, this is the case. My flight to Zurich this morning is currently showing a two hour delay.
@ Tartan. Love the Concorde story. That would have been something special.
As long as they replace them with something and dont just drop frequency. Flexibility is key to the customer on most of the short, thin business routes and dropping from, say 7 daily rotations on a RJ to 2-3 on a babybus probably wont go down too well.
I guess this is where the Dash8-D will do good. As i understand its quite good on fuel, comparable to a jet in terms of speed on the missions they are used and can climb/descend well to meet ATC requirements around busy airports.
I have flown a few (maybe 15) sectors on RJs both in the U.K and the US and i have to agree with the article that they suck from a passenger perspective. A packed CRJ 100/200 is hell in the sky. ER4 a little better, but not much after 45minutes or so.
Maikel. Loved your report. You set it out very well with lots of good quality, informative pictures.
Never flown KLM but they look decent enough. I love transatlantic flights that offer pizza as a pre-arrival snack. I guess its the small touches that set one airlines economy cabins out from another.
They also handled the delay in a very fair fashion by the sounds of it. Extra miles=:D:):D
What is the usual normal price for car parking to watch the smaller Airbuses?
From £3 for an hour up to £12 all day I belive ( and a few other variations inbetween)
I prefer Airbi to Airbuses 😀
Sorry Grey, you beat me to the punch.
Yea and start camping out there 5 days before to make sure we get a good spot. Would be quite cool to see it depart 23L from the southside.
Yea, a total rip off and quite cheeky. A very good point has been made in this thread about this flight being a scheduled service as of 1st Sept. To charge that sort of money to see a “every day” service is pure greed. I could understand if it was a day of events similar to NCL a few weeks ago.
Assuming they phone these complaints in and it’s not a freephone number it must be costing them a hell of a lot to whine on to that extent.
If they are always on the phone complaining how do there friends get intouch with them? Ah wait a minute!!!! That’s not likely to be an issue.
Blended winglets on a 767 just look so good. Good selection of shots Paul.;)
Good stuff. Nice to see this route pulling itself around again after being on the verge of getting dropped last year. Also nice to hear us “tight” northerners are stumping up the wonga for premium cabin travel.
On a lighter note regarding phones on planes. This is just one of those mundane flights but something happend to make it a bit more memorable. MD-80 CPH-MAN, run of the mill stuff. After landing in Manc, pulling into the normal spot at gate 24, cabin crew give the all clear to switch on our mobiles. Well a sea of nokia “start up” tunes filled the cabin. You know the one? Da Da Da Da–Da Da Da Da–Da Da Da Da Daaaaaa…Maybe 20 phones all with the same tune one after the other. Well, some poor sod switches on a Motorola or Sony/Erricson or whatever it was, the tune plays and…… the whole cabin goes silent, then some guy let’s out a “wayyyyyyy” and the whole cabin starts cheering and claping at this guy with the odd ball phone. Guess you had to be there, but it was a funny end to a regular flight.
While you’re on board a commercial aircraft you follow all instructions given by the crew, whether you personally agree with them or not.
Which in the instance I mention in post #9 is leave your phone on for takeoff.
Is it more a case of, we’ve done some tests that were un-conclusive however were sure there will be some effect on equipment so just leave them off anyway.
On the subject of phones igniteing fuel at petrol stations I thought it had been dismissed and linked to static electricity? People jumping in and out of their cars in the US where they have the clips on the pumps so you don’t have to hold the trigger in while you refuel.
I always turn mine off yes.
Now, my parents just took a flight to Greece on TCX. They do not fly much (no excuse), and just after the final cabin inspection my mum realised her mobile was still turned on in her bag stowed overhead . She informed a passing cabin crew member and she just said to her “leave it for now and just turn it off once were in the air and the seatbelt sign is off” !!!!
WOW!!! Speed bumps on a runway. Seriously, do you think it’s a pilot faux pax or a wind related incident? All looks ok down to about 20ft.
Must be time of the month, what with this and the recent “disagreement” at JFK. 😀
I was waiting for something witty to be said by either party before they switched to 33.8
