You might have a squizzo here:

    or here:

(as I’m not quite sure what counts as South Lancashire…)

Thanks guys. I was in dire need of a cue. The Met Office are sending me weather records for the Manchester raids so it looks like I am slowly getting quite a bit of flesh on this project.

I was recently reading a book on the ocean and apparently sea water softens bones and they then break down quite quickly. An interesting thread, BTW.

I recall seeing an artefact in the museum at Portleven in Cornwall that consisted of an engine bearer. The bearer was associated with a Beaufighter wreck but was in keeping with having held a Merlin engine. Of course, the Mk IIF had Merlins as a contingency against shortages of the Bristol engine. Amazingly, no one seemed to know that IIFs had operated from Cornwall.

A further plea for information if any contributors can help please? Does anyone know of 1940 bombing raids on Manchester, particularly during October?

There was a proposal for a SuperCarvar using a DC6 or 7 sadly they never made if off the drawing boards.

Didn’t they use a DC-7 rear fuselage and a DC-7 nose wheel in the conversion? I seem to remember the basis for the conversion was the DC-4 as mentioned elsewhere on the thread.
