Parts of Shropshire and Herefordshire have improved dramatically as well!
Many thanks to P-K for his detailed post of a couple of weeks back. Apologies if my earlier post was somewhat provocative. The Sea Vixen is indeed a wonderful aircraft and many more airshow goers now know what it is thanks to the stirling efforts of DHA over the last few years. (and the two pilots involved). The new paint job looks superb and it is a sad irony that whilst many people were looking forward to seeing it displayed this year in the new livery that there is a very real possibility that it is to be grounded. The annual costs seem horrendous and it is easy to appreciate that a sponsor in todays “green-driven” climate might not be forthcoming. The question that remains though, is there anything that we can do?
Lee-I enjoyed your air to air photographs in AI. Are there any prints of these available? I particularly liked the one taken shortly after take-off.
I find the lack of any public information from the owners lamentable. The previous owners used to contribute to this and other forums. Have they just given up on the whole idea-does the fact that DeHavEng no longer work for them give weight to this theory? If the “x” thousands of people who have viewed this thread gave just £5 towards this cause it would go some one way towards keeping this bird in the air. But where would we send the money?
First pics starting to appear on another forum-wish I could have been there and this coming saturday-too far-check it out:

Absolutely brilliant-well done to all!
Has the official unveiling already taken place
Welcome back DHE-I fully understand your reticence. Link as follows:

There’s been a bit of a flurry about this on another forum/place recently-along the lines of “where’s the capaign?” etc. It has all gone quiet here though-where is our insider DeHavEng?
DeHavEng-thanks for sharing this “inside” information.
I am concerned that this real gem of British aviation will now grounded for good. The interest generated by the Sea Vixen since 2001 has been phenomenal and there are many posts on many web forums which testify to this. The issue at present though remains rather low-key even in these parts.
In my view the acheivements of the De havilland team particularly during the 1990’s should not be underestimated. Firstly they secured the aircraft which stood outside in all weathers on the North Wales coast for a number of years and determined that it could be made airworthy. Then they took it through the complex and uncharted territorty of certification for use on the civilian register. This surely set a precedent which has been of benefit to the restoration to flight of other complex types? (Buccanneer, Vulcan etc)
Should not the campaign to publicise the Vixen and find a new sponsor start here?

Dune Flying
I found a great gliding video page. If I was to recommend one video it would be the video file linked below showing arial shots from a vintage glider being flown above the dunes along the Dutch north sea coast in the middle of winter.
59MB but well worth it in my opinion,
Display Dates
I checked the Red Bull website which has recently been updated and disappointingly there are only two more apperances this year:
4-8th August-Cowes Week
18th August-Bournemouth Seafront Airshow
What a pity that such an obvious crowd pleaser should be omitted from the major airshows.
Hand held
