I really loved the South African models, especially with their special Rocket pod/ Fuel tank combos that they deployed with, anyone with a pic?

Photo by the late Herman Potgieter.

Anyone know what happened to the third Mk3 Shack which was re-sparred? 1717??

Only two were re-sparred and 1717 was sold to the Stanger Museum but when last seen was in a very poor state minus wings and has most likely been scrapped by now.

The Shack has a fair amount of flying hours, considering she doesn’t fly that often. The problem concerning her continued operation as a flying aircraft is actually the crew issue, as they are getting on a bit.

Take a look at http://www.saafmuseum.org.za and click the ribbon.

General Kriegler the pilot for Shackleton 1722 and patron of the SAAF Museum Cape Town, passed away this month.

    RIP πŸ™

If you were under constant bombardement you would dig up some holes or trenches to protect yourself, too. And yes of course all those 9-12 years old girls fleeing from their improvised school were blood-thirsty marxist rebels.
BTW why are you so aggressive do you have to hide something? :diablo:

Your ignorance really shows. If under constant bombardment, the trend is for civilians to flee the area. I suppose you actually saw those birth certificates  One has to ask why a village only had 9-12 year old girls in it :diablo: I suppose Africa has never used child combatants either

The only person trying to hide anything is you, who conviently overlooks the utter barbarity of those terrorists.

    Shame on me??? πŸ˜€
Actually I HAVE recorded footage of a civilian village in Mozambique being bombed by the Portugese air force. Fortunately all inhabitants were able to flee into self-made trenches and nobody was harmed. It was recorded by two German filmmakers who made a documentary about the Portugese occupation. Unfortunately it’s on VHS and I’m not capable of dgitalizing it.

Yes, every village in Africa comes equipped with trenches

Clearly you haven’t the slightest idea about wars in Africa! Attached is a picture of a couple of those “civilians”, dare anyone shoot at such innocence?

Next you will be digging up that old footage of civilians “slaughtered” in a Salisbury park, when in fact they are sleeping off their lunch!

The info that I have is that it was a MiG-21UM

That I’m getting from a few sources.

You are correct, serial I-10. I was so busy looking at dates that I overlooked the type :diablo:

I wasn’t trying to ignore anybody – it was just an observation.

Well, as observed, you are no better than the rest of us!

James, I suggest you take some time to learn “are” language before you try sending your thoughts out to any helicopters that have been shot down.

Judging by the pictures of civilians shot dead that were aired on the news earlier I would say that some have copped it already. Funny how nobody’s patriotic thoughts ever go out to the families of all those civilians we have killed in the name of their freedom and liberty.

The fact is that the helicopter crew did not choose to be there either. I suggest you aim your bitterness at those who deserve it and not at those who are merely carrying out orders. I also suggest you learn a bit about terrorist wars and then maybe you will realize who actually chooses to make the battlefield in civilian area’s. What makes a civilian? A fourteen year old girl carrying an AK-47? It happens, even if people like you choose to ignore this.

You claim to be concerned about civilians but you ignore those who are kidnapped or killed in road side blasts on a daily basis, the very people those helicopter crews where trying to protect!

    Mi-17 serial 132 at Varadero

Any details as to when this was destroyed? The one I’m interested in was 1982. Couldn’t make out the serial, either H-516 or H-518?

Which was the MiG-21 you have?

    Mpacha.
Put everything you have I’ll help you with it, I know about 5 former pilots during the Angolan War.

Any idea of the serials of the aircraft shot down by the SAAF? (Not talking about the MiG-23 here!)
