Indeed, just like it was Hitler’s intention to defend Germany from those hostile Poles and Czechoslovaks. To claim that the Apartheid regime in South Africa had no expansionist policies is absurd. Its like claiming the US has no expansionit policies.
    .

Your ignorance shows. South Africa could have occupied smaller African Countries if she chose but this did not happen. South African policy at the time is well known and at no time did South Africa have the intention to occupy other countries. Quite simply South Africa did not have the means to do so and it would be “absurd” to suggest that South Africa had the desire to spread out its limited resources even further! Cuba on the other hand, had the means and the desire. The fact remains that many Africans died defending the old South African regime and even more died trying to rid Africa of the Cuban occupation. It is also absurb to compare South Africa with Germany and the USA, next you will be telling us that Fiji plans to invade the world?? :diablo: As I said, Africa is a lot more complex than you think! 😉

Not to mention that this “crazy… old idiot” managed to help fight the spread of neo-nazi apatheid in southern africa and to provide one of the best health care systems for his population – all inspite of being forbiden to trade or cooperate with the US. Crazy he may be but he was also a highly successful statesman.

Firstly, the correct spelling is “APARTHEID”. Secondly, you shouldn’t get involved in african politic’s since you clearly have no knowledge of this! There was never any attempt to spread apartheid. The objective was to protect South Africa from an increasingly hostile continent. Cuba never became involved with the intention of “protecting” Angola from South Africa, she had her own agenda. Whilst, South African policies may have been bad, Cuba was no better! Cuba helped to enforce “apartheid” against the Ovimbundu tribe, amongst others but you don’t hear of this because no “whities” are involved. Just as nobody creates as greater fuss about Mugabe as they did about the white regime in South Africa. Africa is a lot more complex than the “European” guilt ridden history books.

Trying to get back on the subject. It is interesting that Cuba almost drove South Africa to use a nuclear device.

Mpacha, apologies for mixing up the identical airframes of the PC-7MkII with the PC-9 in the SAAF. They do have a weapons training role there.

The SAAF PC-7 MkII is used for ab initio training and thus does not have a weapons training role, as per the agreement with the Swiss Government. Weapons training is carried out by 85 AFS with Impala aircraft, which will be replaced by the Hawk.

You’re forgetting Slovenia, Ireland, Cyprus, Oman and South Africa (the latter two in the weapon training role). And you forgot the PC-7 altogether.

South Africa does not have PC-9’s and there PC-7’s are not armed. Part of the agreement for the supply of these aircraft was that they weren’t to be armed.

This is the only picture I got. The website http://www.tempur.com.my is currently unavailable. this alouette did not make it to the army, instead went to the air force museum.

When I was in Malaysia I was refused permission to photograph this ALO3 or any other aircraft in the museum?? What is the point of the museum then

duxfordhawk – people’s opinions are often based on personal experiences, or the experiences of those they know. The experiences many of us have had with immigrants have been bad; ask many people in Norfolk/Suffolk/Northants/Kent who seem to have had the majority of the bad apples dumped on their doorstep. So naturally opinions go against *all* immigration which leads to people playing the race card.

As an immigrant in said area, Damien, it was your country’s foreign policy which cost me my country. So now YOU can flipping well give me a new one! Live with it mate we are now part of your life. We didn’t want it, you created it. Maybe if the locals weren’t so hostile towards us, you would have better experiences with us? My “bad” experiences have been unprovoked acts from locals. Such as yours………. :diablo:
