RE: KLM and BUZZ and Air Lib Express.

According to KLM’s 3rd Quarter results the loadfactor of Buzz was under expectations for the months Oct-Dec due higher competition on mainly the German routes with new carriers.

I think it is important for Buzz to keep on investing in growth as they do not want to loose their 3rd position as European low cost carrier. Having a look at what is going on in the airline industry and the 3rd quarter loss for KLM I can imagine KLM is looking for a partner to help financing that growth. Hell would brake loose within KLM in the Netherlands when there will be only “(cost)cuts” in the mainstream operation and investment in Buzz which is operating outside the Netherlands.

KLM and BUZZ and Air Lib Express.

According Dutch newspapers KLM is looking for a partner to help pay for Buzz expansion plans. A name popped up recently of someone who might be interested.

There are talks Erik de Vlieger, a Dutch businessman who made his money in first sawing machines and since years real estate would be interested. Mr de Vlieger’s IMCA group owns already Tulip Air, Fly Metropolis, Dynamic Airlines, 60% of KLM Exel and since the end of last year 50% of Air Lib the ailing second French airline.

Air Lib, the new name of Air Liberte and AOM after the demise of Swissair which owned those airlines, is in negotiation with French governement about restructuring plans.

According to the newspapers Erik de Vlieger has also agreed on a first purchasing right of 60 Fokker 100’s placed in the desert by American Airlines. It is said that he even has a deal already with Rolls Royce to overhaul the engines and is negotiating with Dutch company STORK who took over Fokker Maintenance after their demise.

Alicante is also being operated out of Rotterdam. This is why I am so very busy at the moment. They are really going through a big change. New Advertising agency, new destinations flown as from 1 april (but bookable as of 27th of January, new website, new reservationsystem and new callcenter. The last one is where I come in as they are coming to the company I work for and I am involved in getting everything ready by the 27th. Left home this morning at 06.45 and came home at 19.15.

RE: Which other apt in the Netherlands is both civil and military?

Bad guess EGNM, the airport is in the east of the country and currently only holiday/business charters next to the military operation.

Back on line after a very busy week but only for tonight as two very busy weeks with long working days still ahead.

To answer your question EGNM, there are no plans to create a corporate identity for Basiq Air. By keeping it with Basiq Air by Transavia the company is way more flexible in switching a/c between the Basiq Air operation and the charter operation.

Up till now they were not that well known in the Netherlands either. Starting the 27th they will start promoting a lot as of that day not 6 destinations to be booked but 13 :-). They fly only out of AMS and RTM to the mediterranean countries so no real wonder. Further more it is a product by Transavia, a/c are in Transavia colours :-(.

RE: Goodjet on the brink of bankruptcy

Haven’t checked their site recently, so not really up to date.
Just a little correction SKOG, on December 7th I replied to earlier messages about Goodjet. SFI is a Luxembourg company and their daughter company MCI from the Netherlands took over Goodjet. On the 12th of December I posted a message stating bankrupty requested by a Swedish marketing company and that they did not plan to operate again until the 15th of January. D-day is tomorrow and I will look into this saga again this coming weekend.

    RE: LMAO at Ryanair

Couple of days late as I am very busy at work these days, EGNM you are right Eindhoven Airport Welschap is an airport with both civil and military operations. Sometimes this is a disadvantage, look at Ryanairs flight, sometimes an advantage, the had a bomb alert in the pax terminal (I remember vaguely end of last year) but operations were taken on quiet quickly by moving civil ops to the militairy side of the airport.

Wow, a pic to put big on the wall. Although I do not share SAAB’s point of view. I still prefer the old c/s. The big KLM on the tail is distinctive enough, the bigger logo on the fuselage gives me a bit cheapy feeling.

RE: Imagine if you actually had to pay for that airline food.

Fun to read, in a way it is a nice idea but I do see problems as well.

How many meals do you cater onboard, do you want to tell your passengers that their preferred food is sold out, don’t think so.
They will probably start screaming and writing loads of letters to customer relations. Offering different kinds of snacks or meals will, in my opinion, lead to loading more kg of catering on board than before. I see only 2 valid possibilities, either nothing at all x( or one standard meal(with maybe other special meals on request only) 🙁 for everybody!
