WOW fab shots there like the sunset shot and the RAF Boeing E-3D Sentry AEW1 (707-300)

Dunno what happened to the sunset pic, it didn’t look like that when I uploaded it
First class pics.
Nice shots, and with the sun away and the sky overcast it seems to help you get better shots from the north side.
Nice light on the last Atlas Iain and a v/nice close up on the first 737 shot, fancy selling me that 100-400? :diablo:
You’ve caught the prop rotation well Iain. Tried a few night shots, too windy though 😡
I like that last inflight one.

peter
Thanks Peter.
Very nice Fred, you’ve got me thinking of getting a 400D now.
Further to Fred’s exposure question:
What is the best method for focussing through the fence at night?
Good question, not easy to answer though, I personally find it pretty difficult so try and take night shots from access gates where there’s usually a gap where the sliding/locking bolt is, and of course I use a tripod.
Very nice DJ good to see you back in action it’s been hard going this Winter with the weather but the better days are just around the corner.
Have you shot the new based YAK 52 close up yet? theone that’s in your 4th picture down?
What was the number seconds on your Atlas 747 pushback shot from Stand? that’s a good one.
Fred.
Yes Fred, the weather has been pretty grim all winter, not got a close up of the Yak yet but I know what you want it for, I’ll see if I can get one. The Atlas shot was 24 seconds.
Not aborted – just “Ouch” –

Great stuff! I think I did suggest it wouldn’t be a problem after cropping, and as Ren said probably the best from GLA for quite a while. 😉

Great selection there! I am beginning to get quite tempted about heading upto ABZ. Is the ‘farm road’ in walking distance from the terminal, and is it in the right place with the Sun for most of the day? And by ‘official viewing area’ is it actually a terrace or anything, or just somewhere that security etc encourage people to gather? Is it mainly just ramp shots available from there?
Maybe not the best pic to illustrate this but looking at this pic – http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0285939/L/ the Viewing Area is just adjacent the Main Ramp at bottom left, the farm road runs along parallel to the fence right ’round to abeam the r/w 34 threshold are. HTH.
Nice shots there like Dyce great airport. On the shot with the Flybe Tail in your face what airlines are the two Short 360? One looks like BAC Express.

Not sure, Benair possibly?

Yes, the farm road is right next to the Official Viewing Area, which is about a 5 minute walk from the Terminal, just turn left as you come out.
All it has is a Bus Shelter and a couple of seats, but it’s better than nothing, the farm road is right next to it and you can just walk along here for different angles, and the sun will be behind you most of the day.
For a different view turn right when you come out of the Terminal and you’ll see a grassy mound, this overlooks one of the helicopter aprons and the remote parking fixed wing apron and there can be quite a bit of variety here, I think there is a Polish An26 parked there during the day for a night mailrun?
And if you just continue following the Perimeter Fence you will come to another couple of helo aprons.
The only place you won’t get access to if you don’t have transport is the East Apron (some visitors park there) and Bond Helicopters and also BMI Regional Maintenance but if you have a decent pair of bins you should be able to read the reggies.
