Mind you. Having just watched the programme made in 2000, they will have to go some to beat it!
Viagra 😉

All glider pilots are used to keeping things up with no visible means of support..
🙂
Literally, the end of an era….
Hi Bob.
I am sure you have seen this website: http://sfcody.org.uk/aero.html
I’ll leave it to you to decide whether the axle matches the picture……

Superb!
Up at Sarum today. No fuel thefts reported recently. Our a/c checked and found ok. The Salisbury Journal did us quite proud, with a front page article describing the problem and asking for anyone who had any information to contact the local Police.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the end of it. In the meantime, life goes on. Please, come and fly in. Sarum needs your business and you’ll be made most welcome.

Weather permitting. Vintage Aircraft Club fly-in due at Old Sarum next Sunday (12th). Even if its just drive-in conditions, I am sure there’ll be quite a few of us enjoying the tea and cakes!
Steve Slater
Al Mathie was a highly respected LAA pilot coach and Auster owner. A true enthusiast and a gentleman.
The following has been issued by the LAA, with his wife’s permission.
It is with regret that I must inform you that Al Mathie, an LAA coach, was killed over the weekend. The full circumstance of the accident are being investigated by the AAIB. The accident occured when exiting a Piper L4 Cub with the intent of sending his student solo. I will issue more detail on the accident and guidance in due course.
He’ll be sorely missed.
Inside Out also apparently on Virgin Media channel 858……
Its going to be a good night to be in front of the TV.
Biggles Biplane on at 7:30 followed by “The Real Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, BBC-2 9pm, an hour-long documentary on the round-Britain microlight rally, with author of the book “Propellerhead”.
Excellent! No phone calls please!
As a prelude to tomorrow evening’s broadcast, here’s a link to the original BBC Inside Out feature shown back in 2006:

.
Weather of course turned the day into a “drive in” event. Many thanks to the 25 or so who still turned up and supported the day. “Biggles Biplane” and Chris Parker hangars open with contents arrayed for inspection. “Pilots Mess” cafe did a roaring trade too
If I remember rightly, the late John Jordan was involved in the Wallace project. Is the fuselage not on display at Old Warden?
Ben. If you want to hear what the Heston racer might have sounded like, try this link. Pure music!!

And from Flightglobal, this stunning cutaway:

Vega Gull and Proctor here for comparison.
As Snoopy7422 says, the big difference was that the Vega Gull offfered a wider fuselage allowing two side-by-side front seats and dual controls.
Proctor Mk V in particular was effectively a different aeroplane. Designed for military communications use, a lot heavier and more ‘functional’ than the graceful pre-war Gull.
Superb! Have a great Christmas Steve.
Low’n’Slow would receive a reply to his PM if his mailbox was empty! ;):)
Thanks Newforest. Duly emptied….
