The stuff in the workshop is priceless, love the shot of the paintspraying whilst wearing a suit!!!!!!:D
Told you we need to smarten up in the workshop Bod…. :diablo:
The Blake Bluetit was about as clear an example of an amateur homebuilt as you could ever imagine. What flying it did in 1931 was done without the aid of any certification, registration or any other paperwork!
I understand that the current owner has registered the project with the Light Aircraft Association and will have retrospectively provided the engineering information which would be needed for a project today.
I know those at Old Warden would be better equipped to comment, but I am pretty sure that the CAA has no ‘special rules’ regarding Shuttleworth aeroplanes. It is notable that some Shuttleworth edwardians have recently switched from CAA to LAA-administered permits to fly.
And there are no full size replica SE5’s available in the UK, well not yet anyway!!
Shhhh. That’s supposed to be top secret!! Doh! :diablo:
A few lucky forumites who made the preview screening on Wednesday, seem to have enjoyed it.
Now comes the real test, when we all get a chance to take a look tonight!
Stunning Hurricane picture. So evocative.
Sad news. But what a life. Not just an engineer, nor a designer, but an artist!
Spoke to the pilot yesterday. Is perfectly fine but determined to not to become famous. Seemed to spend an awful lot of the day driving the launch cable recovery vehicle!!
Fiat 500? Oh you said aeroplane!:p
A Fiat 500 is waaaay faster! 😀
Rob Fleming may well disagree with you there Low ‘n’ slow!
Oops. Yes. He would be well justified to complain!! Apologies!
The Glasair will certainly be impressive, but one of the highlights of my limited flying career is seeing Taff in ‘XF hurtle by my wingtip on the way into Goodwood a couple of years ago!
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I thought some of you might be interested to know that Taff Smith is hoping to set a new record for solo flight to the Cape and back this September/October. Interesting for many I guess because he’s G-AEXF’s current display pilot, that’s ‘Alex Henshaw’s Mew Gull’ for those who don’t ‘do’ numbers! Taff has a little website at http://www.thecaperun.co.uk/ for those wishing to know more.
Taff is much more than G-AEXF’s pilot. He is also the aeroplane’s owner!
These from the light end of the spectrum – still attached to the aeroplane! Any guesses? 😉

Looks like a pretty big accident, although all the media attention will focus on Farrage, I hope the pilot is OK, reports are of serious but not life threatening injuries.
Thx Laurence. Vamp went straight over Propstrike’s house!
Yes, Tipsy and I are well. Sadly wouldn’t have been able to make Abingdon anyway, twas a bit blustery for us!
I am sure along with many other forumites I really feel for Colin, Neil and the resto of the gang for being stymied by what clearly appears to have been a last-minute ‘moving of the goalposts ‘ by Defence Estates.
Added to their appalling dereliction of their care and maintenance at airfield sites including Abingdon, DE’s record is pretty shocking. Perhaps in this election week in the UK we should add a bit of pressure to remind these civil servants who pays their wages?
No need to watch it on TV – about 20 mins ago it transitted right over your house! :dev2:
