Sad to hear of 898’s demise, although most importantly, the crew are apparently all OK.
Carvair buffs may already know about this site. If not… http://www.ruudleeuw.com/temp-carvair-stu.htm
That means that this one, N98FA, otherwise known as Fat Annie, is the last one flying. Apparently she earns her keep moving bits of drilling equipment from Texas around the southern US states.
A wonderful, if oily old beast!
Did you see the scans Flight put on their website taken at Mildenhall before race start?
Thanks for the lead BlueRobin
If you’re “in” to 1930 aeroplanes, take a look at all the Flight images on that website. They are just stunning!
Not as bad as my usual trick.
I normally decide not to go somewhere because the weather’s going to be no good…..
…only to discover later that its been perfect…..:(
A small but significant change in forecast for Monday
Just saw national BBC weather forecast on TV for Monday. Wet over east England but over far south east, including Southend it might even be dry and bright for much of the morning. Dry perhaps afternoon as well with less/no sun pm but not guaranteed we will escape showers.
There is hope for tomorrow yet but breeze could be a problem.
I bet you’re regretting posting this right now!!:diablo:
Give those guys pulling him out a medal, the sort of friends you need!!!.
Totally agree. But the guy wearing the plastic trainers and polyester fleece, is probably well advised not to rush to join them! ๐ฎ
I think the Bond movie sequence (filmed at Northolt) was done with smoke and mirrors, or at least models and special effects.
I seem to remember it was done with a very large Dodge pickup truck and a long boom with the aeroplane on the end of it. I’ll try to dig out a photo!
A pity to see the BD5 down in Australia. It was powered by a converted Nissan Micra (honest!) engine, but apparently suffered an engine failure just after take-off. Apparently the pilot is recovering from minor burns and a back injury.
If it’s still in limbo, pm me and I’ll send you my snail-mail address.
How many shots left on it now?
Beautiful shots and the Lizzie makes it all the more emotive. Congratulations!
I’m waiting till I get the rest of the aeroplane back from China :diablo:
Glad to see Lucy’s bum looks just as good in the new suits:D
Get down Shep! – again! ๐
No. Bod. Noooooo :diablo:
Crikey Bod – you kept those close to your chest!
I’m a bit worried about all that left rudder to keep straight on take off though!! :diablo:
โThe Flightโ on BBC1 E Mids (Sky Ch. 980), Friday 4th May, 7:30pm โ 8:00pm. it only shows up on the E Mids Regional Channel.
๐
That’s probably because RAF Coningsbury is in the East Midlands :diablo:
[QUOTE=peter;1109068]What are you working on?QUOTE]
Still in the ruddy office, with piles of boring worky things to do, on (yet another) perfect flying evening with a (hopefully) servicable aeroplane sitting in the hangar…………
grrrrrr……….
Roll on the weekend. Anyone going to Abingdon??
Thanks Roger and Baldeagle. You’re now “the latest news” on http://www.biggles-biplane.com ๐
