Damien B and Man on the Fence took some fantastic photos of Sealand ( plus all the other Thames Estuary Forts) some time back from the original Haircraft ( now sold…) and posted them on this forum.
A memorable day!
Hairyplane
Time for a mass attack by the Shuttlewaffe this spring perhaps? :diablo:
Crikey! 😮
A serious reality check for those who think that these aeroplanes maintain themselves I think!!
Sorry Denis, didn’t mean to distract from the business in hand. 😮
Fred’s lack of underarm deodorant was beginning to cause his crew some concern 😮
By the way, isn’t that TT second from the right??
Can’t add anything on the provenance, but as its such a ruddy awful wet evening, what about a caption competition.
I’ll start with this one.
‘E gut us into this ruddy sh1t, ‘E can get us out of it!
😀
Hi Steven
Good to see your posting and I’m just so glad the museum’s fighting back after the fire.
I’ll never forget the cheerful welcome I received about ten years ago when I loomed up out of the darkness at about 3pm on a January Saturday afternoon, convinced the Museum would be closed.
Come to think of it, apart from the volunteers I was the only visitor, which makes the welcome even greater!
Good luck with the fundraising!!
Jump, John, Jump! 😀
It would be interesting to see a few of their Pushpak.
Then you can come and have a go in BXTO to compare!! 😉
Lovely!
Can’t wait to see the rest of it now!!
🙂
Just goes to prove that one should never rely on one’s memory Steve!
A couple more for Firebird of ‘696 at each end of the display at Greenham. Time to check for those loose rivets?
Finally, I have no notes for this one, but I suspect its an 11 Squadron aeroplane, maybe departing at the end of a Finningley display??
plus a couple more specially for you Wessex Boy 😀
Nice Pics L&S
do you have any of an earlier vintage that feature Channel Airways aircraft?
Haven’t been able to find anything (yet) though still looking. I seem to remember that they were similar to the NE Tridents but were they pink instead of yellow??
Or am I getting confused with those Court Line shockers?
Anyway hope these keep you going…..
Correct on both counts. 😎
A further dig into some notes from the time confirms it (I seem to have been more organised as a teenager than I am now!). Both Shackleton WR977 and the VC10 (XR808) were displayed at Finningley 21.9.1974.
For some reason that BoB display was the weekend after Leuchars – not that I was complaining! Happy days!
😮
Now RAF Leuchars Battle of Britain display, September 1974.
(check out the Lightnings in the background, preparing for their ‘streamer’ take-off – no wonder I got hooked!:D
