A few more from Sywell’s Chipmunk fly-in that preceded last Sunday’s air show.

I have a feeling that Youngy would have been smiling – and he even arranged the weather so he didn’t “have to get his coat” 😉

Ray and his company, the Old Flying Machine Company, were the aerial co-ordinators for all the flying sequences, which were carried out in the UK, mainly based at Halton, Bucks.

They shipped in four Nieuport 11 replicas from the ‘States along with a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, as well as using UK based aeroplanes as varied as SE 5 and Fokker Triplanes replicas, along with Shuttleworth’s Bleriot and Bristol Fighter.

I’m sure if you call Delta’s Office in Cambridge (01223 874346) and ask to speak to Matthew Byatt, the operations director, direct, he’ll get to the bottom of things for you.

Having worked as ground crew on a number of occasions for the past two years with Delta, I can tell you that they’re as honest and commited a bunch of people as you’ll ever meet (in contrast to some other rather dodgy folk that you find in aviation!).

Sadly when you’re operating sixty-plus year-old aeroplanes, there are times when things go wrong – and the overriding safety rule always is, if you’re unhappy with either weather or servicability, you’d don’t fly.

I’m sure Matt will want to check why things haven’t been done to their normal standards.

Try contacting Michael direct via his website http://www.studio88.co.uk

The painting you mention isn’t listed on his web gallery, but I’m sure that provided Michael still owns the rights to the painting, he’ll be happy to try and help.

Hope you enjoy the flight Albert.

Weather forecast (ever believe them?) now looking more promising with winds scheduled to abate over the weekend.

Current band of rain expected to move through on Friday, leaving a clearer day on Saturday, with a bit more cloud on Sunday.

    Fingers firmly crossed please everybody……

Hmmm….wonder where Damien’s pictures are. Maybe he left the lens cap on….. :diablo:

Yep. Perfect photographic conditions, apart from the blustery wind.

Although the high wind curtailled some flying yesterday it didn’t affect this brilliant racing car display – provided by Patrick Morgan and his DT Engineering team. Over £1 million-worth. They’re on display on Sunday too!

Enjoy both skivvying and the Citabria.

If you want a type check, I seem to remember The Pilot Centre at Denham have an example on their fleet. Be careful with it though, its CFI Eva Paul’s pride and joy!

Another great, gone. I had the pleasure of working with him on a couple of occasions and he was a masterful broadcaster, a font of knowledge, generous and humorous and, above all, a gentleman.

He’ll be sadly missed. Condolences to his family.
