The chappie in the first shot bears an uncanny resemblence to Lieut. William Leefe-Robinson V.C. πŸ˜€

    …..only rounder.

Did I just say that – out loud? :diablo:

Apologies for all the ‘insider’ jokes, but it’s not often one gets the chance to extract the Michael from three forumites at once! πŸ˜€

At the risk of pointing fingers (I’ve gained a few pounds in recent years)…the chap in the first photo looks a bit …’em …large..compared to most WWI pilots I’ve seen. πŸ˜€

You vill regret crossing swords with the Blue Max!

    Take cover!! :diablo:

    Thanks Jagan.

Any further information, including stories of their use in India, would be gratefully appreciated!

Very sad news. The Maltese media have reported that it was a mid-air during the competition. The second pilot, Eddie Goggins, was able to climb to altitude and bale out.

Condolences to Gabor Varga’s family and all those involved with Aero GP.

It’s a bit too wordy to put on this thread, but if you want to read the story of William Leefe Robinson’s flight, in his own verbatim report as written ninety years ago, you can access it by clicking on the news section of the Biggles Biplane website. http://www.biggles-biplane.com

Any idea when this program is going to be put out?

Watch out on Channel 5 somewhere around the 18th November.
