Both 757 and A340 ops manuals specify max 30 knots groundspeed (displayed on Nav display and generated by Inertial Reference Systems coupled with GPS) when on straights and max 10 knots for sharp turns (without use of differential braking).
STOP PRESS – I helped a mate get a CV together a few weeks ago having just finished his frozen ATPL. He phoned me last night to say he’s just landed an A320 job with Air Malta! Looks like things are really bright and bubbly at the moment on the recruitment front. Hope this will be happening to you two soon.
Keep the reports going… they make great reading.
Bishop has been the thorn in the side that stopped this happening years ago. Virgin staff wanted it, bmi staff wanted it, it was just Bishop who didn’t. Rumour mill believes it is apparantly a takeover, not a merger.
…what is said to be a very lucrative route…
There are currently 7 airlines on the LHR-BOM route whereas when Virgin started it 2 years ago there were 3. None of the 7 airlines are making a profit on it at the moment but all were waiting for one to withdraw to reverse the situation. Even without the airframe problem bmi was where the money was for who was the likely candidate to back down.
The DC3 has it’s cabin door on the left… unless it was made in the Soviet Union (called a Li-2) when the door would now be on the right!
Next time you’re on FS set the vis to 75 meters. That’s the Cat 3b system minimum. In a while you’ll really enjoy the challenge that those conditions present.
La Guardia is a domestic airport, Newark an JFK are more international orientated. JFK is a bit of a nightmare, personally I much prefer Newark. Connections to Manhattan from all are very good, as they should be. Don’t forget Newark is actually in a different state (New Jersey).
SRAs are a great way to fly an approach as all the grief is dealt with by the controller! Strangely enough, I never ever did one during my training. The first time I ever did one was at night in a 757 into the standby runway at Gatwick (which has no other instrument approach).
Is it not a currently held view in the medical profession that almost everybody experiences at least a petit mal fit at some point in their life?
I have one place in mind but I would be worried about upsetting too many people if I aired it!
As in “Ohm Igod, look how much I spent last month”
We usually just look at each other and say “ohm my god, what’s it doing now?”
Had a chat with him 6 weeks ago at Lasham. He’s a very nice guy, very level headed. The cassutts are beautiful.
I remember going into the GFT training thinking I was an above average kind of pilot and that the syllabus looked like nothing new. As I said earlier the whole system is all about enhancing your approach and attitude toward what you are doing and I distinctly remember going through the same crushing feeling that what you have always done in the past without having to think about suddenly seems so difficult. Ride it through, it will suddenly click into place… and that will be the time they put you up for the test. Have faith, the fact that you are questioning yourself shows that you are exactly the right person to pull through. When you re-read this thread when in possession of a blue license you will understand what I mean.
Just a guess but I’d imagine they are new build freighters.
