Vikramditya is a rusty hulk of Stalinist steel that was laid down in some crappy Russian shipyard back in the 70’s, and it’s air wing will consist of aircraft that were originally developed thirty years ago. Cavor, on the other hand, is a modern design, built in a modern shipyard using modern manufacturing techniques. Cavor’s air wing of F-35’s and AW101’s will be at least a half a generation ahead of Vikramditya’s MiG’s and Kamov’s.

    There’s really no comparison.

Vikramditya should be renamed INS Boondoggle. :p

Garry, you frequently engage in troll-like behavior. It’s kind of pussyish and hypocritical to put someone on ignore for doing the same thing isn’t it?

I don’t think the Russians would’ve been so forgiving if the roles were reversed. Especially when you consider Russia’s history of shooting down civilian airliners that stray into it’s airspace.

    They should’ve shot it down.

Russia should forget about developing a fifth generation fighter and just buy f-35s instead.

Why doesn’t the UK disband their armed forces and outsource their national defense to the United States? I think this is a great idea! I’m sure the US military would do a great job and for very reasonable price.

    Gary, you’re insane.
I only hope that one day you’ll be hospitalized so that you can get the help you so desperately need.

All the ELINT/SIGINT installations from ‘Cold War times’ are used for industrial espionage inside Europe mainly!

Actually those installations are all part of a monstrously conceived and inherently diabolical U.S. government mind control scheme. Those huge antenna array are actually used by the CIA to monitor Europeans for anti-American thoughts. Once anti-American thoughts are detected, they (the CIA) will send an armada of black helicopters to whisk away unsuspecting Europeans who are not willing to bow to the will of the U.S. government and imprison them in secret CIA bases located throughout Europe.

…It is a matter of word, and whether the US is willing to stick to its word – unfortunately, the current administration does not place much emphasis on keeping promises (even if it disagrees with Clinton’s decision to grant a waiver, it must keep to the promise, if its word is to mean anything).

True. In 2000, Bill Clinton promised Britain (and Australia) that he would work to have the ITAR restrictions waived, but George W. Bush and his administration have also tried to make this happen. They’ve both failed because of resistance from a few powerful members of congress – esp. House International Relations Committee Chair Henry Hyde and House Armed Services Chair Duncan Hunter.

I predict the British requests for a waiver will eventually be granted, most likely after Henry Hyde retires this year

like the Mexican-American war that ended with Mexico loosing more than half of it`s territory, the illegal immigration of US citizens to Texas when Texas was part of Mexico, the US invasion to Mexico in during the Mexican Revolution blah blah blah…

Nobody lived in the American Southwest but a few Spanish priests and nomadic indian tribes, and only several hundred of those by 1819. After Mexican independence in 1821, the Mexicans claimed the entire land mass of the western North American continent, so of course they aren’t to be taken seriously, since nobody in Mexico would move north of Tampico and the settlers who came under the land grants were mostly German, French, and American. Then, Santa Anna got the idea he was the Napoleon Of The West and decided to confiscate what the settlers built up, now that it had some value, and invaded. Of course he got his ass handed to him in Texas, and later handed to him again in 1848, over what became the Gadsen Purchase. Nobody stole anything from Mexico.

As far as the Su-27’s are concerned, the hopelessly corrupt and disorganized government of Mexico can spend their money as they see fit.

Scott Crossfield and Mary Anne Thompson (Air Force Association Education Fund). This photo was taken Monday afternoon at the Prattville, AL, airport just after he’d landed. He had come down to Maxwell AFB to speak to the new 2nd Lts. on Tuesday. He took off Wednesday morning to go home.

I was suprised at Yeagers response on hearing about Crossfields death. He said he wasn’t suprised as Crossfield was the kind of pilot that took risks. Asked what sort of risks, he said flying in weather that he (Yeager) wouldn’t have gone up in.
Whatever, he certainly had the right stuff and died what he loved doing.

Can you provide a link to Yeagers response?
