I think a nice 1/72 scale T-6 will make the long winter nights seem a little shorter. When’s it getting released again?
If I’d known what you looked like before I’d have said hello to you as I walked passed you at Bruntingthorpe on the 8th…..
Your cover’s been blown now, Rob. Everybody will be grabbing hold of you to say hello. So much for the low profile, eh? 😉
Finningley, june ’77 Queens silver jubillee review..
Wow.. what an air force!!
Great pics! What a fantastic amount of hardware. 5 Vulcans that I could see. Lightnings, Phantoms… Hurrah!
I used to go to Oaklands Infant and Junior School which is in the valley right below Biggin Hill. I can remember standing in the playground telling the teachers what planes were flying about. I remember seeing the Blenheim flying but said it was a Beaufighter…
I suppose you could forgive a 10 year old. It was a bit misty too.
Anyone know what Blenheim it was? Must have been 1986. My last year in Junior school as I moved to Charles Darwin next to the airfield in 1987.
I remember Diamond Lil in 1992 but very little else. I guess I remember Lil because it was a first time for her over here. I took for granted everything else… 🙁
Oh no! Not the shag-pile-carpet-tinted-windows-and-Garmin1000-cockpit treatment?
:diablo:
MTV and Discovery Wings are putting together a joint production called “Pimp my Jug”.
Rumours have it that Noel Edmonds and US Rap mogul Jay-Z are set to host.
I attended a number of the Air Faires at Biggin in the early to mid nineties and I can remember only one year when she wasn’t there (I think she was in for an overhaul for that season). The show of ’96 was the last time I saw her, just a month before her tragic demise. 🙁
I was just becoming a teenager in the early 90’s. I guess I had other things on my mind. Shame really. I’m only a stones throw away from Biggin and am kicking myself now knowing that she was there.
Damn my adolescent ignorance!
Did RR299 ever display at Biggin Hill? I don’t think I ever got to see her. 🙁
What happened to the SHC’s A-26 Invader? I was looking forward to that.
And what was the “surprise” TFC had in store?
I have this suspision that I was standing pretty close to everyone else after seeing all their shots.
I thought the commentary had a bit too much of a Galic flavour- Bernard Chabbert is good, but one can have ‘a liddle beet too much’ of a good thing.
I thought he was good but he should tell bedtime stories for a living. He’s so relaxing. My friend thought he was joking when he told us that the Corsair had an ashtray and cigarette holder built in for long missions.
Had to laugh at some of the ever-expanding wind-break shanty towns on the fence- line, some of which have joined up to form complete enclosures.
We were sitting by the “tank track” and could see whole sections roped off. We were just ambling back to the can when this small gentleman with a bag on wheels and a 5 foot step ladder bustled past. Now he takes his airshows seriously.
I enjoyed it greatly. It was nice to see Arsene Wenger getting some commentary work in during the off season :diablo: 😉
This is my first Legends and to have two B-17’s flying will be great!
Paul,
I’ll be at Legends today. I will raise a glass but it will have to be soda as I’ve taken a hayfever tablet and don’t want to miss any of the show because I’m a jabbering wreck.
Here’s to the brave!
Regards to your family and friends on this day,
Paul
I’m off down (or up to be specific) there tomorrow at about 8am. It was my mate’s birthday in May and we all chipped in to get him a ticket. He’s never been to Duxford before ever. I think he’ll enjoy himself.
