I think the key word in the entire debate is “IF”…

I browsed over the article quickly as I was at work, but were these maritime historian making the claim?

The forces have always been terribly competative amongst each other. I guess the historians are too.

Watched the Lancaster and Hurricane take off from Biggin Hill around 1230, I had forgotten what a lovely sound those 4 Merlin engines make πŸ˜€

I heard them and saw them too! πŸ™‚

My apologies for the quality. My house is behind trees and I was listening to where they were rather than being able to see them. And I had Planet Rock on… albeit at a very low volume πŸ˜€

The Lancaster belted out from between the trees. My camera was still on the LCD setting and I had to try to focus and zoom in on that. Hence me taking a picture of some trees, blue sky and a blurry bomber.

I was still having technical difficulties as it flew overhead.

I finally sorted it out apart from I didn’t get time to select the continuous capture option.

    Bye bye baby.

As the sound of those Merlins died away I heard another noise to my left.

    Lovely!

Sea Fury, Hawks, Eurofighters and Magista’s at Biggin Hill (see attached pictures). BBMF Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane hidden just out of sight on the far side of the South Camp.

    Regards,

    Dan

I think I must have heard the Sea Fury fly over, to the left of my house. It was definately a single engine piston I heard. Darn trees. I saw the Typhoon and a Hawk.

Eurofighter Typhoons just landed at Biggin Hill.

    Regards,

    Dan

I keep missing everything, Dan. It’s these blasted tree. My dad didn’t anticipate a neighbour growing the b*ggers 35 years ago.

What have I missed? I saw the Typhoon and I think I saw a Hawk. I missed some piston engine about an hour ago, though.

BBMF Just buzzed my house. I didn’t get any pics of the Lanc but I shot from the hip with the Spitfire and Hurricane.

I was in Poundland a few weeks ago and saw that Will Young was trying to do his best Top Gun impression in his two singles:

    Switch it On Part 1.
    Switch it On Part 2.

Everyone forgot the motion picture soundtrack for 1941.

With the current talk in the air of a remake of The Dambusters film could a remake of The Battle Of Britain be a serious possibility?

    I’m working on it!

Heavy metal God and aviation enthusiast. I just had a quick look on Wikipedia and found that he is a skilled fencer and flies Boeing 757 charter jets for the UK charter airline Astraeus (which Iceland Express leases planes from) where he is employed as First Officer. He was taught to fly by British Airways commercial pilot Captain Phil Dales.

But Steve Harris has got a pub in his house though.

Yep, the kid is altogether too slack-jawed and vacuous, and he is the most convincing part of the set-up.

You’re right. We’d have never given the Hun what for with him looking like that. πŸ˜‰

None of the BBMF aircraft are on the CAA register from what I’ve seen, so this would make me think that they’re owned by the RAF/MOD.

Yep, Moggy, you’re right. Old Warden is the evening before. If I were more adventurous I’d drive straight from Shuttleworth to Rougham! But I’m not…
