Geedee, I hope you were wearing shades whilst looking at all of that polished metalwork. Lovely photos, any more?
Rob
Yes mate…1400 to be precise (thank you digital camera’s !) including Bell 47 and B17 flight picies
I’m suffering jet lag now buit will be sorting them out into types etc and posting more if anyones interestedover the next few days.
Ps, thanks for the encouraging words. well appreciated.
A Man’s plane…damn right…love the F2G shots…from OSH last year, perhaps? I have similar stuff from OSH last year…
Mr. Patterson, we should talk, I’m right next door to you location wise (Colorado) and may be doing some writing for a couple of magazines here soon…might do something on YOU…get ahold of me, Mark Morris, corsair166b@yahoo.com…whose Sea fury do you have, as in who used to own it? Looks like George Baker’s old one from the avatar…
Mark
Nope…. All last week along with Riff Raff and a few others.
But that’s a girl’s plane – see, there’s one in the cockpit in the second photo 😉
and she’s a blonde and she’s fit and she’s a pilot as well !!!!
Just finished reading on Yahoo entertainment/ET online in an interview that Tom Cruise lists as one of the things he’d like to do most is to race in the Reno air races….and I can only conclude from that that he means in his P-51 ‘Montana Miss’…now would’nt THAT be interesting?
Mark
Like to see him try a ‘mans’ ‘plane !!!
Any idea of the ID of the Fury? Looks like there were some great aircraft there, may try to go one of these days.
~I’ve got more on that one with hopefully a tail shot with the No. I’ll post later
Another shot, this time of an aproach to 31 at Thruxton this afternoon in a Slingsby (second shot). Yup went for another bimble today with a mate of mine.
Bit bumpy but hey…what ever….and the racing circuit had loads of the local racing school cars wazzing round at warp factor 7……..bit of a distraction as I’ve already said.
Any one else got piccies of their local landing patch ?
Got this in my office cartoon collection…..
To the tune of ‘ The Church is our Foundation’
The dogs they had a party, they came from near and far,
some dogs they came by taxi and some dogs came by car,
each dog signed his name upon a special hook,
and each dog hung his a***hole upon a special hook
One dog was not invited, and this aroused his ire,
he stormed into the party, and loudly shouted ‘FIRE’
the dogs got so excited they all forgot to look,
but grabbed the nearset A***hole from off the nearest hook
This is a sad sad story, for it is very sore,
to wear anothers A***hole, you’ve never worn before
and that is why when dogs roam o’er land or sea or foam
they sniff each others A***hole in the hope they’ll find their own
teehee
Well…did they or didnt they ?
Having watched the programme that ripped the whole space shot apart, it certainly causes doubt on the whole thing.
If I wus clever enough to figure out the whole shortcut thingy, I’d attach the shortcut that show you the moment when man alledgedly first stepped on the moon, only for the studio lights to crash down against him and technicians appear out of the ‘lunar’ landscape.
And yes, I watched the whole space shot from start to date, and I have the whole thing care of numerous age old hard bound volumes of a certain well known magazine that show’s the whole thing from start to finish.
Me,. I dont know, but I have reason to doubt what we have all been told and until someone comes up with irefutable ~(try spelling that when you are half cut like I am at then mo !) I have an open mind
just thought I’d share that little bit with you !
That TwinPin was parked outside my office windows the other day. They had a lot of trouble starting the left hand engine…took about five minutes. The right hand one was burbling away quite happily….lovely sound
Nice shots….love the self launching sailplane / glider
Not too sure about the nosewheel mod on the Jumbo tho’
Haven’t seen a three wheeler tug before. Is it something new or am I seriously out of date ?
I think you’ll find all you need here:
http://kropla.com/electric2.htm
And regarding the USA, specifically what’s here:
Top man
Thanks for that
Keep smiling, keep in touch, and if you need anything, we’re here.
The scale is 1/48…its big, very big, and chuffin heavy… about 3 bags of sugar… as well !. I have another in the same scale but an earlier version (no chin turret), but in RAF camo colours (green/brown).
The models are by Franklin Mint and are very well built. The cockpit glazing can be lifted off to show a fully detailed inside
The black one caught my eye cos of the name ‘Tondalayo’. I have a book called ‘Fortress Down’ which is written by one of the original crew, a guy called Elmer Bendinger (I think the surname is correct as at the moment I have loaned the booked to someone to read) of Tondalayo, so I just had to have the model to go with the book. The book itself holds some startling remarks that make you think very hard about what the crews went through. Its a small paperback, look out for a copy in the aerojumbles, its a brilliant read !.
And I havent seen an all black Fort before either.
the green Fort is one from a boxed set by Corgi and is 1/72 scale
Dammit…. I had the speakers cranked up to max and I still couldnt hear that howl !!!!!
Never mind, I got a good imagination !
Great piccies, nice to see them living.
Gary,
Sorry to report bad news but the Gatwick-Detroit flights are operated by the venerable DC10 until the end of October. Most(if not all) the A330s on transatlantic are operating into Schiphol at the moment. This site lists actual a/c that have operated flights upto 2 days ago: http://www.lhr-lgw.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
Regards,
Matt
Thanks for the info Matt.
I was quoting details from the website that is organising the trip to Oshkosh…..”Flights are form London Gatwick airport with Northwest Airlines (on their new Airbus A330) to Detroit, with onward connection to Appleton. Alternatrively, if KLMuk or KLM fly from your airport, why not fly via Amsterdam…….etc etc”.
Not fussed realy either way, but would prefer to fly in an airframe that isnt quite as old as me !. All the trips I did back and forth from Cyprus when I was there for three years was in either the RAF Tristar’s or the Queen of the Skies, the VC10 and they aint spring chickens any more !.
Ideally, I’d like a window seat in front of the wing and a bit of leg room, dont want much really
