Four bladed ? hmmmm. three bladed ?……hmmmm

Thanks for the info on the Mustang. I wasnt sure if it was an oversight or a geniune missing line of text.
Reference the difference in the Rudder trim for take -off, would that be because of the larger canopy and the taller fin on the Cavalier Mustangs upsetting aerodynamics as opposed to the stock air frame ?
Kev
Dont be silly, they’d heard about the Slip-Wing Hurricane and thought they could go one better.
Trouble was, they where distinctly short of Air Frame Fitter Tall, General Purpose so they had to build it upside down. Then it was too heavy to turn over the right way and they bent the prop boss using it as a lever.
This piccy was taken after it was decided to cancel the project
Yo Snapper
you wanna do a book on this stuff !!!
Kawabunga dude…its Pizza time !!!

Nice pic of Malta Steve
Thanx for that Ant
Most people tend to forget that bit about not being a fighter and the control inputs neede to do even a simple manouever… i hadnt thought about that.
Ref the thick wing, I was building my own plane at one time and the ribs where huge height wise compared to the length and that was a fairly high lift design
Thanx again.
Thanks for the info guys.
So increasing the undercart length gave a better angle of attack for take off / landings ? Very clever idea. Hadn’t thought of that one
I reckon though that the designers may have just probably got it a little bit wrong. Sat on the ground, the angle of incidence looks very close to 15 degree’s which I believe is the angle at which a wing normally stalls ?.
Also, once upto speed, surely the ‘plane wouldnt take off in 3 pointer attitude (or did it ?), it would tend to flatten out as the tail rose so less aerodynamic drag and greater acceleration resulting in faster airflow over the wings ?
I agree, she should have had a wing extension. Dammit, they did that to convert the Manchester in to the Lancaster, surely they could have added 5 feet each side on the Stirling, iether at the wing tips or by incvreasing the distance between the engines.
Shame we’ll never know
Too right its a Sunderland.
Had a look at the museums website and it mentions the Sunderland but doesnt give any details.
Is that a Radar dome under the main wing ? taht should help identify it
This is Shyloh…in his favourite place doing his favourite thing (and my daughter copying him). We’ve had him about two years. Soft as anything.
Apologies for the seat covers and the curtains…thats we’re given out here !

Stupidist (est ?)
Hmmmmm lets see… ah yes..
5 up on my old 550 Honda coming back from the pub one night !. 1 on the tank, 3 squeezed on the seat and 1 on the back rack….and we only had one helemt between the 5 of us.
Riding across the Yorkshire Mooors on a bike holiday without my helmet on. Stopped at the end of the moor and for some reason had a funny feeling the split link on the bike’s final drive chain was missing. Had a look and it was…missing !!!!. How that chain never came off, I will never know.
There are other times that can normally be described as a ‘High Puckered Sphincter’ content type of event, but dont want the missus to find out.
Embarrassing, yeah I’ve had a few.
Dropped the same 550 in front of a load of girlies I was trying to be cool in front of. Made a hell of a clang as it went down. didn’t know if I could pick it up cos I hadn’t tried before. Got it up okay, then started up and went to pull away and promptly stalled it cos I was trying to change gear with the rear brake !!!(I was a bit shaken up…honest)
Playing cool dude on my Harley a few months ago whilst in Akrotiri, saw this drop dead gorgeous girl (pretty enough to make a Bishop kick a stained glass window in !) and was so busy I didnt see the speed ramp….or the puddle just behind it. Hit the ramp …which got my attention back straight away,,,then went through the puddle. Ever seen a bike with a bow wave ?..chuffing water went everywhere, and it wasnt clean. I was wearing an open faced helmet and had a wash then !. The Bike looked like I’d just finished the Paris Dakar rally during a monsoon. What could I do in that situation except look dead ahead and prtetend it didnt happen and piddle off round the corner a bit quick !. Took me most of the following day to get it back to its usuall pristine shine.
