RE: Be Happy!!!!!!!!!
talking about boats…now I’m really happy !
The engine on the back of my boat in the piccie was 115Hp straight six two stroke. with a 19″ pitch prop (prop moves 19 inches for one revolution !) she would pull a water skier out of the water and upto planing speeds like a champagne cork out of a bottle. Most boats that size run with max of 80 HP so there was a considerable difference in speed. With the 19″ on the back I got her upto 45MPH (GPS confirmed) but with the engine trimmed there was hardly enough boat in the water to maintain directional control !. tried her with a 21″ pitch prop, acceleration was marginally slower but top end peaked out at 53 MPH(see last piicie taken during a test run with the 21″ fitted)…not bad for 17 foot long speed boat. !!!
I also have use of of a 29 foot Bayliner with a five litre inboard. Does an honest 45 MPH with nine adults on board (See first piccie). Goes like hot sn*t!
I’d like to say that I’m still happy.
The boats I use for powerboat training courses are RIB’s. this one’s got a 100HP four stroke on its rsend and again will do close to 45 with six adults on board. Best is when there are only four on board and you are out in heavy seas, wave jumping !!Real adrenalin rush that is I can tell you.
Its brill out here…warm sea, sun and fast boast to play with…unbeatable !
Cheers
Gary
Ps I’m still happy !

RE: Window scratches
Steven
Nope. The only passenger transport that the RAF use with rearward seating that I know of is the VC10…bladdy wierd sensation it is too on take off, you feel the seat leave you behind and then when the guy in front pulls the stick back and you feel like you are gonna fall out !!
The Tristars have the seat facing the normal way. My prefered one is the Tristar Freighter cos there are a lot less seats across the fuselage and as a result you have a nice gap between your seat and the window so you can store all your gubbins there instead of under the seat. Having said that, when the taps are opened on the VC10 and it roars off down the runway, it dont half make a racket especially when you are in between the hangars and it echoes around…you dont just hear it, you feel it as well Lovely stuff !
Micheal
No, I’m not in the services but am a Civil Servant…well mostly civil…some of the time…!…and as a result get to fly on the troopers (Tristars, VC10’s etc) on trips back to the UK and back here
cheers
