    RE: National Anthems

Not a lot actually. I rather prefer Land of Hope and Glory but when you look into the wording (What I can remember of it) it doesnt seem to bear much relation to our ‘modern day’ England.

As for a replacement, I dunno. Its got to be catchy, strident, stirring etc etc and meaningfull with lyrics that mean something, but I’m not too sure I can quote a song just at the mo’.

‘There’ll always be an England’ and other such wartime songs spring to mind, but i’m not too keen on a purpose designed one to replace our current one.

Perhaps we oughta get the Barron knights to do a cover version. That’d be bladdy good…teehee.

Dunno mate, I’ll havta think about it !

What about all you other guys / gals out there in the big World Wide Wait who havent come up with their own National Anthem observations ?…come on, there must be loads (I do own up to having the Yugoslavian National Anthem on an old 78 (remember them ?)and before you ask, NO, I have no idea why I brought it !)

    Cheers

    Gary

Ps apologies for any typo’s…the C*rlsb*rg’s taking affect !

    RE: Go On….Ask Me Anything!

Ahh yes …cricket…thats that funny game where you start off iether out or in, if you are out then you are actually in untill you are out, then the next guy who is out is in until he’s out. (almost as bad as trying to understand the ‘offside rule’ in footy!

S’funny that you get ‘innings’ but not ‘outings’in cricket !

    Cheers

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

    I’ve flown in :

    Comet
    VC10
    Tristar
and I have a dim recollection of a Brittania.

What I’d really like tho’ is a trip in the Heracles (Not Hercules…the old Biplane with four props) a Shorts Empire Flying Boat and being really really greedy the saunder Roe Princess flying boat.

Thinks….must’ve been born thirty years too late !

    RE: Your Ideal Advent Calender

    Hmmmm…advent calendar…try mine.

    You need

1 x electric drill and 8mm masonry drill bit
2 x rawl plugs and No6 dome head screws 3″ in length
    24 x sticky labels

    1. Mark out and drill two holes approx 15 Inch’s apart on a wall (Make sure they are level and in line…not vertical but horizontal)

    2. put rawl plugs in and then screw in the two screws leaving about a half an inch proud of the wall surface.

    3. get sticky labels and number them 1 to 24

    4. get crate of beer and remove all bottles from crate

    5. hang crate bottom to the wall on screws you have just put in the wall

    6. put 1 x sticky label on each bottle top

    7. pick bottle at random and place anywhere in crate which is now hanging on wall.

    8. Enjoy one bottle a day.

PS do this in the garage and when the crate is empty you can either hang a ladder on the screws or ….put another crate up there !

Thats it for silly ideas from me now !

    Cheers

RE: Part of Concorde tail ‘fell off’

Beats me why they need two rudders anyway. In all cases so far tha ‘plane has continued the flight and landed safely. I was always under the impression that thr rudder was seldom used on jets of any type !

As usual, the media are blowing things out of all proportion…old airliner, aged plane with previous bad history etc etc.

Wish the media would crawl up a tail pipe of a groundworthy / airworthy/ fieldworthy / capable of starting Concorde and get the guy in front to start up the ruddy engine !!

    Cheers

Gary (who by the way is over thirty and so far nothing has fallen off!)

RE: Whats the speed of Dark ?

So if I get this right, holding a torch while travelling at the speed of light, pointing it forward and switching it on would produce a beam of light from the torch ? So in fact the light emitted from the torch is actually going at twice the speed of light ?. Bit dangerous that…think of the recoil !!!

    cheers

    Gary
