I did post a link (in another thread) to the website of the guys who take their ground running Merlins around the shows. see:- http://members.lycos.co.uk/pwgrieve/index.html
    mmitch.

Didnt know about the web site but did get a few piccies of these guys providing a cool draft at Duxford. If I could figure out how to post the video clips I took I would….makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up it does….mmmmmmm.

    Stunned !. Terrible news.

I watched the Masters of Disaster routine every day last year at my first trip to Oshkosh and have never, ever, seen such a fantastic display of airmanship.
Without doubt, Jimmy and his team stole the show for sheer spectacle !.

Oshkosh this year and the future shows will never be the same.

To quite possibly THE BEST SHOWMAN in the airshow world, RIP, and thanks for your guys displays…..truly irreplacable !

I have a copy of his book ‘ A Time to Fly’ that charts all his flights and proving adventures etc etc. Its a bl**dy good read, well written and full of surprises. I’m at that place I go to during the day (some people call it work !) so cant give you details of the book, but will post them up later this evening. Funny thing is, I was thinking of putting it on e-bay as I’m in the process of thinning out my aviation library…allready moved on a number of Putnams…

    Die cast or plastic??

All metal. Mostly Corgi Aviation Archive but the big…and very heavy fort !!!. is from Franklin Mint (got another one in the loft but thats a F model Fort in RAF cammo colour scheme). Th Mustangs and the Stearman are all money banks.

I’m just waiting for the other two big Mossies I ordered to arrive from Corgi…..whats involved in getting planning permission for a hangar in the back garden ?

Who cares about the possible distortion !.

Its not every day you get the opportunity to snap a few big radials in close formation and you have the memory of the noise and vibration from your own plane ride as well. …I still recall my first flight in a B17 last year as if I’d just got out of after touchdown.

Was Bob Odegard there with his big sunburst schemed racer ?

Thanks for sharing those and like you….looking forward to the others (you must go digital one day…instant results and all that !)

I think I have pics of one ,teardrop, yellow Canadian markings taken at Duxford late 80s early 90s ,not on comp so must not have them scanned yet ,I will look them up over next couple of days.

Wouldnt be this one by any chance would it ?.

Found this babe lurking in the fields at Oshkosh last year. One of two Chippies…the other was in RAF training colours if I remember correctly…
