    Later this week on March 7th will be the 70th Anniversary of Operation Spotter the first 15 Spitfires to fly out to Malta via HMS Eagle. These were the first Spitfires to be based outside the UK. 6 of the pilots would be killed on Malta five are buried there, the other was lost in the sea and is remembered on the Malta Memorial in Valletta.

    I recently went to the cemetery at Biggin Hill to photograph the grave of F/L John L Taylor. Next to his headstone is the one for F/O John Munroe, which I also have a photo of if you are interested.
