RE: Model aircraft.
Yep Alexis, I am fradu on avi8.com,
A friend of mine had offered to paint me up a FRADU Hunter (he is a quality modeller) a few years ago, so I may take him up on it.
Onto future Corgi models – no whispers of a Gnat but Buccaneers are in the pipeline. Let’s hope they do a RN one 🙂

RE: Model aircraft.
Alexis
I will probably go down the same route as yourself by painting up Corgi models into other Hunters. Trouble is if I want a FRADU GA.11 then I will have to use the RN example produced by Corgi, as it is the only one fitted with an arrestor hook.

RE: Model aircraft.
Got all the Corgi die-cast Hunters as well as the two Sea Harriers and Falklands Vulcan. Also have a couple of their airliners – a Connie and a Sunderland.

RE: Catalinas
Yep that was the one that was in Flypast a few months back.

RE: Catalinas
I’m sure this Cat is on the US register, the US colours mentioned ring a bell as I’m sure I have seen it advertised in FP in previous months.

RE: FAAM Wyvern
The CAA look at the accident statistics of aircraft types before deciding whether to allow them to fly. This would probably rule out the Wyvern, or at the least make it very difficult, for the aircraft to ever get clearance to fly.

RE: The Prentice at Shuttleworth
Read in an old copy of Flypast that Shuttleworth “guarantee that the Comet will be airworthy in 2034 for the Century anniversary of its Air Race win.”

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-08-02 AT 09:18Â PM (GMT)]It has just been restored back to display condition and the airframe was apparently in good shape before that, but whether it was built to airworthy standards in the first place, even though it didn’t actaully fly, I’m not sure of.
However with view of the aircraft’s safety record the CAA wouldn’t allow it to fly. Have heard some stories about the Wyvern, including a very very nasty one including a girl on a tricycle (I don’t think I need to say anymore)

RE: Percival Prentice G-APPL
A peek on G-INFO reveals that the Prentice is privately owned and registered to a Mrs. Susan J. Saggers, who gives her address as a hangar at Biggin Hill.

RE: Sharks
Aye, that’s the beggers 🙂
Great photo sadsack.

RE: A bad day !
It’s a excellent fake, the only giveaway being the golden gate bridge in the background 🙂

RE: Sharks
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-08-02 AT 09:19Â AM (GMT)]It was cutbacks that resulted in the team being trimmed down to the “Gazelle duo” in the mid 1990’s. From that point on I don’t think I heard the Sharks name mentioned.
Bit of a shame really, living near Yeovilton they were regular visitors and used to always come up and rehearse their routines over the airfield every spring.
The cross-over break always impressed me 🙂

RE: QUEENS AMAZING FLYPAST!!!
ITN News didn’t show the VC10 and x, the Royal Squadron stuff and the Typhoon at all. BBC did at least show some of the above which was nice.

RE: Another Spitfire flies…………..
The contra-rotating prop is apparently a temporary fit, whilst a certain Mr Hinton goes for a record attempt, or so I read a few months ago.
Looks nice 🙂

RE: Canberra TT18 G-BURM leaving on…
That would be Phil Shaw who was flying it, the RNHF Sea Fury/Swordfish pilot.
