I think that it went tech so it did not fly but did some fast taxying.
So its still four years since a Buccaneer last flew in the UK.

RE: Is the F86 to fly this year?
TFC acquired an F-86A from the USA a couple of years ago and put it on the UK register as G-BZNL, but there’s some doubt if it ever made it across before being sold to the Flying Heritage Collection(?).
Hope thsi helps

RE: Hunter in more detail
Phil
This Hunter still survives today in flying condition with the Jordianian Historic Flight in Jordan.
It is the famous G-BOOM, formerly of the Hunter One and Jet Heritage collections.
Perhaps the Hunter you are thinking of is the Jet Heritage F4 that had a tragic accident in 1998?

RE: Why on earth……….?
The RNHF Firefly also has one such gearbox fitted to its ex-Shack Griffin powerplant.
RE: Talking of Mustangs
Is the first picture the former WoGB G-PSID, and the example that sadly crashed in France a few years ago?
Very nice pix Philo 🙂
RE: Spencer Flack killed
>A sad loss, but in all honesty, I thought he was killed
>flying one of his aircraft about 20 years ago…?
I think he had a very narrow escape when his Sea Fury had its accident in the early 80’s, as remarked in the paper “He cheated death 15 years ago when one of his aircraft crashed”

RE: Spencer Flack killed
>Thats a shame, did he still live in England?
In the paper it says he came from Herts, so I guess he did live in the UK.

RE: The Fairey Barracuda
I think the nose section they have on display is from DP872.

Hopefully before too long an airworthy Tempest II will become a reality 🙂

RE: A true classic jet…
Phil
It is the same aircraft.
WV908 was airworthy for several seasons between 1978 and 1986, then was overhauled and put into storage due to lack of funds.
During this time it flew in the markings of the first image.
BAe carried out a restoration on the jet at Dunsfold between 1995 and 1996 which included the new paint scheme. Sadly as most will know it suffered severe damage in July 1997 which has grounded it ever since.
Hope this helps.
Mark
Very nice pic by the way 🙂

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-01-02 AT 10:20Â PM (GMT)]No they are all true designs – I think cool_hand’s pic shows a Shorts Seamew, that was put forward as a possible design for the Royal Navy.

RE: Swedish Invader
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-01-02 AT 08:26Â PM (GMT)]I don’t think the A-26 is up for sale, its a popular aircraft for airshows and the SHF love the aircraft, but I could be wrong.
I read in FP that the aircraft were based at Weald for last year’s airshow season. The Vampire and Hunter have since gone back to Europe from what I hear but not so sure about their A26 and P51.

RE: A little something for everyone?
Sadsack
As mentioned above the Lightning perished, as did the Hastings from memory but not before the wings were saved and sent to the Yorkshire Air Museum for use in their Halifax.
I think one of the Canberras (silver) also survived the break-up of the collection but was scrapped later.
