Worth watching all the way through if you have not seen it before 😀
Won’t fly. Runway to short to take off. Has been said enough times at their events. 655 is Owned by the family that own airfield, they have already said (last year) it will be scrapped. I am not been negative just repeating what is already out there
Your source please about the Littler family saying the Vulcan will be scrapped?
The Vulcan is currently stored on one of the “pans” used by the Wellington’s
One the other side of the road to the touchdown cafe is another part of the old airfield (not part of it for many years). There is another disused pan still there that could be a possibility to put the Vulcan albeit as a static
Adam West ! Your input and recent purchase has raised a new hope for 2015 that I rather thought was not going to happen ! Thank you !
Keith 🙂
Nice to see the Caped Crusader come to the rescue!
Is there anywhere in the uk in the foreseeable future that it may be possible to see one fly?
On your bags it will still have “LGW” anyone know what that stands for?
Whilst the vast majority of folk attending these sort of events are only too delighted that we are allowed to get up so close to these exhibits unfortunately you get the odd one or two that have no comprehension of respecting other peoples property.. Maybe a little fencing around it next year?
The Heathrow one..forget it!. Any airframe that has been outside for 8 years of this complexity will never fly again.
The only reason XH558 Vulcan was able to fly again was because it was shoved in a Hanger immediately after its delivery flight to Bruntingthorpe

I’m no pilot but was that variometer just showing a constant 6 – 8 down all the time.. Didn’t see any evidence of lift.
There was a time, not so long ago, when the powers-that-be felt that we, the UK citizens, had a right to take a look at OUR forces, which WE had paid for, and there was some obligation and pride to put on a good show.
That impetus seems to be lost, and it is disgraceful that the premier Royal Air Force event can field such a thin showing of front line aircraft.
With some initiative and committment they could perhaps get some QFI’s from the Typhoon conversion unit to work up a 3-ship display, which would be very noisy and spectacular, and would at least show that someone was making an effort to entertain and impress.
Meanwhile, you are a para pinned down by insurgent gunfire is some god forsaken place in Afghanistan & radio for an air strike to remove them..It’s going to be a while comes back the answer as we are a bit low on resources as some planes have been diverted to Air Show Duty this weekend.

Blimey these forums do have a load of “keyboard jockeys” don’t they. From what I can see this lady actually has got off her backside (instead of spending too much time on forums like these ) , and actually taken a plane in pretty poor condition and making it happen thats its been turned into something that looks magnificent and given the visiting public to Waddington a great amount of pleasure…Well Done!
Few things are certain in life, a myriad of events can produce cancellations. Unless you can prove that a deliberate attempt that fraud, deception was intended then you have to live with it. Every event I can think of has a disclaimer, musicians, performers get ill, car accidents happen, someone breaks a wrist or damages tendons doing jobs round the house.
And when mechanical devices are involved it is even harder to predict what can happen. As for paperwork and targets , well its always been a tricky area,
ask anyone in industry.A little less raging and more appreciation of what is actually achieved could go down well with those who give up a lot of time.
I agree and rarely post in this thread because of all the “armchair experts” normally spouting such negativity and death wishes for the project
HOWEVER
I’m a project manager in real life and have to construct project plans for a living. People that are involved in this line of work will know what I mean by “milestones” and “dependencies”
Clearly a key dependency on XH558 appearing this weekend was to have a fresh shiny VALID permit to fly safely locked away in a filing cabinet..No permit to fly no show, simple.
If this was in any doubt the project team had ample opportunity to notify the thousands that travelled specifically to see her.. If it was going to be a close run thing again this could have been communicated and folk could make their own judgement call.
A non appearance by a non serviceable aircraft is a different matter altogether.
Absolutely delighted to hear you got it back…
Any chance you could fill us in on any plans on reopening the museum at all to the public ?…I’m sure you will agree surely things cannot stay as they are for ever?
Good to hear…Any deals to get ANY of the aircraft remaining out of Long Marston before they are scrapped has got to be a good thing…They all look totally abandoned and ita a total disgrace what has happened there.
