Very Small WOrld LoL
To save pinching LL’s cracking thread, Ive sent u a PM RAF Millom. BEx
Theres some fanciful talk on here! Flying and taxing TSR.2s!
Its remarkable that two survived into museums, and a nose section (Farnborough?) as it is. Many ’50s & 60s projects (Supermarine 547, Saunders Roe rocket/jet, P.1154 etc) didnt have any survivers.
The truth is nobody will ever know how good the aircraft would have been in service, it looks typically ’60s lead sled and is a massive aircraft. We might not of had the Jaguar and Tornado IDS, both manouverable and good at their job, and the RAF might not have received the Buccaneer and Phantom, if the TSR.2 made it in to service. The Vulcan and Canberra probably would’nt of remained in service for as long as they did, read 607 and imagine if the same thing could’ve have been done with TSRs.
I love the TSR.2 for what it was, and Im glad there are two nice ones to look at, and a few kits to build of it.
I suggest you read Post’s #39 & 40 and u might work out what this thread was about and notice it wasnt a reality chat.

My better half is getting very excited at the prospect of seeing 558 airborne again, completely Vulcan-mad she is! (Is there a name for people with this affliction?????):D
Might surprise her and take her along to see her at Brunty on Monday.
Good luck to the guys with the test program.
Vulcanitious do? 😀 Bex
Very nice, would love one of these. We have got is a prop from one with an intresting story brought back by the Scots Guards.
Have you made contact with the pilot named on the side.
Forgive the question, but did that prop come via Upholland, Lancs by any chance?
Bex
Now that was rather enjoyable with a Sea Vixen to boot (2.30mins) thanks John much appreciated 😀 Bex
As usual, a thread devoted to the Vulcan has degenerated into the usual bickering.
We al have our views on the rights, wrongs, whys and wherefores of this project.
Regardless of our personal views, it is coming to a successful conclusion. Can we therefore keep the bickering to a minimum, and recognise the achievements of a small team who have worked extremely hard under difficult circumstances to return this aircraft to serviceability.
I suggest that Bex’ thread on Preservation is a better place to discuss many of the issues currently being aired here.
Bruce (Moderator head on!)
Thats the reason why I started the Preservation thread so well said Bruce, ok I admit Ive had my doubts as to whether the 558 crew would be able to pull it off, yes its cost a few quid, but their so near to doing it, lets just let em get on with it.

Well that raised a smile on dreary day. Bex
Bump > On the actual day.
Well remembered. This man’s contribution to victory should not be forgotten.
Moggy
Well said Moggy, RIP Mr. Chadwick.

Ive been using firearms since i was 5yrs old, Ive fired everything from pistols right up to machine guns. What I cant work out is why on earth kids are running around the streets letting off rounds for the hell of it. What has changed since I was a kid to today? What can we ban next to make the streets safer? Nothing really because we’ve banned just about everything, but funnily enough the weapons these prats are using are either illegal firearms or more worringly, modified replicas / blank firers.

I have been part of organisations, that have rejected offers of assistance from people who they consider as not having the right background. IMHO any offer of assistance should be gratefully received, whether it be from a retired tradesman or from an ‘enthusiastic amateur’. In todays world with so many distractions, it is a delight to see people with real enthusiasm offering their time and expertise, whether it be cleaning corrosion, managing websites or assisting with cataloguing and research.
😀 John
Youre quite right there John, how on earth some organisations expect to have a future with an attitude like that is crazy, besides, everyone has to learn somewhere, and not everyone is clever enough to pass the right exams so a museum is a good place to learn.

four hours or so…
We’re there in October, but the “Boss” has just said “No” to a 4 hour drive!! Worth a try LoL TY for the info 🙁 Bex
Looking good John, all your colleagues and yourself are doing a cracking job. Forgive the tangent, but how far by car do you reckon you are from Skegness?
Bex
Keep Going!!!
Keep going Graham, looking very good so far. Looking at your project, finding the right words to describe it are very hard.
All the best

Ritch, Kev,
Ive just re read your posts about our Veterans. Im thoroughly speechless to say the least and funnily enough, it was a Veteran who got me interested in aircraft. I grew up going to see a gentleman after school, I used to spend hours i his flat talking to him, he was a test pilot Rolls Royce & Hawker during the war as the RAF refused to let him serve as they considered him more use where he was.
It certainly makes me feel great when I hear those words “I flew that” or “I used to maintain those” and if anyone on here has met me will know Im happy to chat for as long as possible about Cranberry’s. Yes Im proud of the fact Im allowed to do what I do, but Im even more proud of the fact it gives me the chance to meet those who flew in our defense and shake their hand in thanks. Although, when I think about it, a hand shake isnt that much really is it?
