do u reckon that german chap upset his boss? Or is just a complete loon? Bex
I hope it stays in Canada guys, its infuriating when “National Treasures” go to other countries. This country is guilty of that in many ways, so good luck u guys. Bex
Ok a jokes a joke guys, now what have u done with my Canberra?

Well the photos LesB posted for me coz surprise surprise I havent worked out how to post them yet LoL my other half took for me, in fact 98% of the photos in my 773 file wwere taken by her. Give me a car, computer and now an airplane i’ll fix it but give me a camera im cr@p!!!!
LoL Mind u i wonder how many museums have ended up buying back their own stuff on ebay!!!! I just wish i could take decent photos like the ones Rob posted up the top here. Bex
Ah yes point taken, Phantom, I hadnt thought of that bit. Ok small museums like yours & mine have the advantage of bodies outnumbering airframes so when we open the hatches we can supervise, so Cosford or Dux would have a serious problem and also the “Undesirable” element would then be able to help themselves to anything they could get into their pockets. I heard a story at Gatwick that a cockpit was opened unsupervised and when it was closed up someone had pinched some instruments. However I certainly plan to open 773 up for visitors to see whats going on through the hatch, but until Ive got the cockpit cleaned dry & repainted (my nav seat presently has a “bum washer” puddle) I wont let anyone in, besides I get filthy enough in it. Bex
My canberra is starting to get a bit of obsession as not only do i work on her at Gatwick Aviation Museum but i also have my manual (courtsey of Bournemouth TY guys) a couple of books and all my files on my PC at home. Now my partner Heidi is amazing at taking photos, so, I get to work and she takes all my photos for me. Ok if the weather is bad im stuffed like today, but i managed to get 4 hours work done today but no more til maybe the weekend but to keep me happy the manual will come out. Oh she found me 2 books and ordered them without telling me from the libray. She may not be plane mad like me but atleast im not getting screamed at……. yet LoL.

Hmm H & S, sounds like a cop out, risk assessment by H&S officer job done and the MOD has about the best H&S training going, my dad was an army H&S officer. Forgive my spelling & cynasism but to me it sounds more like a case of “Lets keep em out” otherwise no other museum would allow visitors inside the airframes, very fishy!!!!
ty for the info on no entry, shame that as to me and im sure everyone else would agree with me that an “Open door” policy really makes a museum work. Great photos, im jealous LoL I get my partner to take mine as shes better than me!!! also it helps when i want to spend alot of time working on my canberra as igetting her to take my photos stops her having a go at me!!!! Bex
…er, ahem…meanwhile…..24 posts earlier on #61 !! 😮
Sorry folks i thought id read all the earlier posts….. D’oh!!!!
Ok then top left is the rear equip bay, showing rudder & elevator rods cut along witha wiring loom just visable & radio antenna cables & camera door hydraulic lines cut. Top right is the nav console totally AWOL!! Bottom left is pilot station showing most instruments missing port side and 2 panels completely missing starboard side. Finally bottom right is the nav nose bubble after loosing an argument with a wet start Sea Vixen which blew a load of gravel peppering most of the port side of the airframe.
And yes I am somewhat puzzled by the reference to a Vulcan B1 & Canberra PR7!!
Les thanx for putting up my photos & 773’s historical significance, oh at the moment its a single handed effort LoL!!!
