Is it going towards a ‘project’?
I saw it too, excellent piece of telly.
How much is a serviceable Hunter gunsight worth? I wouldn’t have a clue so at first glance £500 doesn’t sound that preposterous … assuming I had a serviceable Hunter to put it in!!
Seemed light hearted to me…
Great pictures thanks for posting, that museum looks well worth a visit!
Novo Hunter, bought for me at Church Fenton airshow circa 1982!
Extremely moving
Nice photos!
thanks, you just saved me nearly a whole fiver
Oooh dear
Anyway…I’ll be interested to read the article, and the Swift is going to look bang on. I’ve seen it in the flesh and was wondering, can someone explain what the different coloured alloy around the gun ports and wing root is for? Is it a more temperature resistant metal maybe?
Looking good Mike, thanks for the update
My grandfather worked in a factory (Slingsby I think) making Mosquito parts. They also had a sideline building fishing rods and cabinets on the sly!
I’d pay good money to see a comet 1 flying! Or failing that, a comet 4. Beautiful aircraft.
Would love to see more of these colour photos from the 50s please!
Looking at his other items, this format seems to be something this seller regularly sells – connected with all sorts of historical figures and events, IMO these items are being created purely for this purpose and are to me are obviously completely spurious – yet sadly there is little anyone can do about such activity – reporting via the online auction host requires going through pre-set forms that probably don’t cover this type of activity – and in any case this host doesn’t seem to take much action these days – perhaps it is not financially in there interests to do so? Witness the recent unopposed listing of a machine gun on their site – despite numerous reports and obvious contravention of their own rules it was allowed to run.
And yet an advert on the aforementioned auction site for a harrier sans engine or weapons was pulled, classed as a dangerous weapon!
Gutted, my favourite aviation magazine by far.
