Its being talked about in social media that Kuznetsov group is going to have some sort of exercise off Algeria from 3rd Nov 2016.
Its good that (as reported in media) that almost every single refueling station was denied to the Russian fleet. That was badly needed and came at the right time. Russia need to learn some hard lessons for neglecting the basic support sytems. And I hope they did. Now atleast they will open their eyes clearly to see the need for support vessels and secure stations around the world. I’m having a feeling that in the next 6-12 months we might see a new replenishment/refilling station in the Mediterranean.

Russia is said to have finally transferred gunships to Aleppo after a long wait. This should have happened much earlier. No idea how many gunships has been transferred if at all this has happened. The moderate terrorists welcomes this move with fire on Aleppo airport area which has been quite silent for a while now.
Russia has been cautious (also due to limited frames) in deploying the gunships in Aleppo and areas where the “moderate” terrorists are strong due to the fact that US backed terrorists are armed with manpads. The Russian gunships have been mostly operating in the Homs region where the fight is against ISIS.
The gunship fleet available to service the entire Syrian battlefield is just too small and inadequate and need to be enlarged, unfortunately thats not happening….Wish China could chip in with a few dozen gunships to help the shortages and also gain valuable combat experience. The earlier battles of Aleppo few months back (& the current one) would have greatly benefited from “flying tanks”. Also the raging battle in Hama which is a wast open area (unlike the dense concrete jungle that is Aleppo) would have been good hunting ground for the gunships. But none was employed since the start of that battle untill the 1-2 gunships finally appeared in videos few days back. It clearly was a recent deployment.
Russia transfers attack choppers to Aleppo airport in preparation for upcoming battle
By Leith Fadel – 27/10/2016ALEPPO, SYRIA (12:05 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force launched several flares over the night-sky in Aleppo on Wednesday, allowing their reconnaissance planes to scope the area for any militants.
A military source told Al-Masdar on Thursday morning that the Russians conducted surveillance flights over southern Aleppo for nearly two hours last night, so that they could land two attack choppers at the Nayrab Military Airport.
The military source added that the Russian Air Force will be restoring the Nayrab Airport in order to help protect Aleppo City from the upcoming jihadist offensive.
Prior to the transfer of attack choppers to southern Aleppo last night, Russian air assets were limited to fighter jets because of this province’s distance from their main military base in southwest Latakia.
On the ground…moderate terrorist have launched their second biggest offensive with mixed reaction. Contrary to the earlier reports/propaganda the Al Assad district has not fallen completely even though they took a part of the district. The terrorists have neither managed to capture the rest of 1070 project nor did they manage to capture the 3000 project.
Islamist rebels attack along the entire frontline in western Aleppo – Map update
http://linkis.com/bnmBT
Beginning on Saturday morning, Jaish al-Fateh restarted its assault on western Aleppo following serious gains in the Dahiyat al-Assad district yesterday.
Initially, a Jaish al-Fateh suicide bomber struck a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) outpost at the Family Housing Amusement Park on the northwestern outskirts of Aleppo. Moments later, as Islamist rebels stormed the site, the SAA was forced to withdraw.
However, within an hour of seizing the Family Housing Amusement Park, the SAA conducted an ambush on jihadist militants infiltrating the area, causing tens of casualties. Upon encountering a hail of SAA gunfire, Jaish al-Fateh withdrew from the site, leaving it de facto no-mans land for several hours.

I may be aging myself, but does anyone else get the Robert H. Heinlein effect after watching these YouTube reports from Syria? Welcome to the new global age of media.
If you are getting that so-called effects on all channels, it may be normal or even ok. But if it is just for Russia based stuffs, then it is most likely deep rooted. Its a very severe case, almost hopeless, due to the constant exposure to specific radio-activities over the decades. Such patients have negligible chance for recovery and usually take the illness to their grave.
Scar had earlier posted an interview of Syria’s first lady. The interview was without any preparation and hence had limitations…here is the documentary from those visits. Good!
Not a common sight in the area:
Nice shot. I wonder if it is for the Naval forces or for scanning inward areas.
Anyway this might be the second time that Ka-31 is being used to support (ground units?) military ops after the operation in Chechen.
Btw, is it by any chance wedding season in Syria or Iraq? We have B-52s flying over Syria.

Last page… wow! How desperate attempts to show that Russia doesn’t have yards or facility to build large carriers. Little do the experts understand that the only stuff in the way of building carriers is Finance!
Btw, people never really try to understand stuffs…..and goes not repeating what some “expert” pulled out his backside.
We have in Indian forums people talking about 677 Lada/1650 Amur being a failure. People also don’t even realize that the “Italian” S1000 submarine is basically a Amur-950 with Italian/Siemens/modified AIP.
Just for info…. funding and Kuznetsoz never went hand in hand since the 90s till now….all it managed/underwent till now was band-aid level of works/repair/modernisation. Originally the real upgradation was to start in 2012-13 once Sevmash was freedup from the INS Vikramaditya work. But due to the boiler re-insulation work on VKD the first projected plans never materialized. And then due to the Syrian conflict, they postponed it again. Which was a good move as the carrier and crew will now get to have first hand combat experience. Regardless of what butt hurt fanboys may feel about the carrier.
11435 (Kuznetsov) would have met the same fate as 11436 (Varyag/discarded) and 11437 (Ulyanovsk/scraped) if not for the almost complete carrier. 11435 was simply too much complete (yet incomplete) to meet the fate of the other two and it was accepted into service by sourcing the required funding for the remaining works/trials. I must also add here the support & pressure that Sukhoi, MiG among others would have put behind/given the carrier for it to have its life. Kuznetsov is a lucky one in that terms and hope the current deployment will bring it much glory before it take its real long break. Good luck!
One more nice snap of Kuznetsov, this one from much earlier when it was 113.
What “reality check”?
Early this morning littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) was making preparations to get underway after a prolonged maintenance period pier side. After the ship’s diesel engines were started, black smoke could be seen emitting from the ship. The black smoke was a result of carbon build-up being burned off after sitting idle for nearly 9 months.

Good to see you post that specific part. Almost everyone with even little idea will know about these stuff and doesnt make a big fuss about the thick smoke….
But the problem here is that Kuznetsov is not given that same kind of consideration and almost all the comments running into pages now are just meant to troll. Sort of venting the anger.

Since most of the experts here have only see the smoking admiral, let me post few snaps from earlier outings when the admiral was not much into smoking.

Regarding the tug itself, Russia navy will be having more of such multi-purpose “tugs” in its inventory and they are going on good steam with these. So the fanboys can cry as much as they want to regarding Russian navy using “tug” boats in its task force and should get used to seeing more of them in the future.
Couple of those “tugs”, though smaller than the Nikolay…
Project MPSV12 is the newest one, first of which will enter soon. Endurance no less than 30 days. Diesel-electric propulsion with 5.2MW overall power. Twin bow thruster, twin main thrusters and a stern thruster.
In the background the new Project 23130 arctic class medium size tanker.
Project MPSV07, earlier model with 20 days endurance. Diesel-electric propulsion with 4MW. Twin bow thruster and twin main 360deg thrusters.
It’s engine starting, not in cruise. Kuzya is a differnt story.
Neither is the Kuznetsov cruising in that specific image posted. It was blowing out. Thats not to say the smoke from Kuznetsov exhaust doesnt exist.
There are multiple other components attached to the boiler setup like the superchargers (intake) and gas cleaning/filtering device (exhaust) which is attached to boiler and the residual exhaust will depend on the proper working of these units also. I suspect either the combustion is not proper due to sub-optimal working of the turbo chargers or the filtering unit is not doing proper job or a combination of both. Again, it does not also have to be limited to these two either.
@ Paralay,
Typo error. 🙂
Good shots of the carrier…
^ Probably due to the Queen’s cold-water optimized destroyer escorting the task group, the Pr.1144 Peter The Great was all along having its 130mm pointed to its port side
Nice to see the VKD trial clips in the below BBC clip…don’t forget to take note of the exhaust stack of VKD that’s in high speed cruise.
After filtering out the bull…
Russia dumped billions and billions of dollars into the Kuznetsov itself, the Su-33s to operate from it, etc.
Proof?
Some snaps of Ka-226 during its trial in India.

No doubt its going to make a big difference in carrying supplies and in evacuation of the wounded/sick. It’s probably a big leap compared to what the Cheetha could carry.

The Kamov’s layout is the single biggest advantage the helo have in terms of volume for “cargo”

And the Ka-226T JV is moving ahead as well. This is one of the worst cases of a foreign machine stealing orders from a soon to be in service local product and quid pro quo for something seems to be the only way to explain it.
the HAL designed and built LUH that had its first flight recently, was on the tarmac during the most recent interview of the HAL CMD and its Chief Test Pilot (Rotary) shown on NDTV..and by the time the Ka-226T assembly line will be ready, the LUH will have cleared its IOC. A non-weaponised version would be available for serial production soon after that. And still there will be 2 completely different light utility helicopters in Indian armed forces service.
Boss, I don’t get it and also curious regarding the service. Has there been any specific time frame that has been given for the LUH like
– when it will get certified
– first production standard machine to roll out
– when series production is to start.
Have seen such criticism online, but have not seen anyone giving a time frame for the LUH service entry. Maybe you can help.
English ship spotters have disappointed with not much snaps of the Kuznetsov task group. No “family” photo of that task group… maybe we get some good pictures when it comes down south. Hope so.
Currently unrelated….
Project 667BRDM that got converted to a special purpose submarine going for sea trials. The SLBM silos has been replaced and so does the hump…

With Aleppo facing the biggest hostage crisis the world probably has ever seen, and with no hope of the terrorists letting go the human shields, the current unilateral ceasefire from the Russia-Syrian side might come to an an end tonight itself. Its also due to the fact that terrorists are planning a major offensive at South and North east Aleppo.
Also, a short but good report on the Al Kindi (hospital) defenders, one of the hospitals that western Jihadi supporting media blamed on the Russian-Syrian combo of destroying, thereby depriving the Aleppo citizens of medical care.
Usually I don’t have much to desire from ANNA reporting, but this report could have added the full length original footage of that execution with blurring. Also, the timing of commentary is slightly off w.r.t to the video where it shows the SAA men that got captured by the Jihadis from the rubble where as the narrative continues with the SAA captain who blew himself up taking along with him the incoming Jihadis. The viewers might mistaken the wounded men shown as Jihadis.

Good one including some awesome background music.
its obvious kushnetzov lay out a smoke screen vs western media
lol…
Btw, its really simple to spell –> Kuz-net-sov
The ships do leave dark/white dense smoke when the engines are on high revs which reduces when its eased upon during normal operation.
Btw, the Admiral do tend to leave much more smoke than desired also due to the 8 boilers running on mazut and probably also due to the exchangers & mixers in the stack not optimized for the task.. There are currently three class of ships that are using a combo of KVG-3 series of high capacity marine boilers and steam turbines.
Admiral Kuznetsov – 8 x KVG-3 boilers
Project 956 destroyers – 4 x KVG-3
INS Vikramaditya – 8 x KVG-3D (new series using high speed diesels)
This old video of the Kuznetsov task group going through some high seas filmed from Kuznetsov. We can see the Kuznetsov”s smoke but hardly anything visible from the 956 trailing behind.
Russian task groups one year achievement in Syria
^^ For comparison, one from the other side…
