So many F-22 fans don’t like hearing about how that plane isn’t the greatest.

Thats what the murican fanboys believed to the core and wanted all others to believe as well.

What we saw and heard in the media when the F-22 was promoted was —->
    1) It will be the last US manned fighter!
    2) Next will be the age of unmanned fighters!

Then the Russians revealed the PAK-FA out of nowhere, that too almost in record time!!!

    What we saw next was….

A proposal for 6th Gen US manned fighter!

It looks like anything that goes by the name John McCain is a disaster for the American tax payers.

^ Looking really great. This must probably be the heaviest border guard ship after that 1135 based unit. Hope they don’t limit it to a couple of units.

@ TR1, that was an informative video

I wasn’t aware that truck based Pantsir-S1 could fire on move and thought that capability was limited to Tungushka-M, tracked Panstir and Tor.

@ Berkut, Thankyou for your inputs.

Russia tests their ICBM within their own land territory where as the US does it out from their land. Are they seriously not sure about reliability of their own missiles? Or just to avoid the stages falling down on public/private properties?

China is looking to reap the benefits of Russia’s hard labor in Syria. Which makes me mad that Russians had to spill blood so that China can walk in and take many of the positives over. Anyway, China is looking to “help” rebuild Syria. They are going to do to Syria what US did with Europe after WW2.

China has done its part all these years including financial, if there is anyone who fits your description, its India. That does not mean China cant do anything more. I would like them to donate or sell on credit couple of dozen of armed UAV so that it can be employed to good effect in urban and other areas.

I would like them to take an active part in the counter terrorists operation by sending their helo gunships. Whats currently in Syria is highly inadequate and we have seen the limits of how much Russia can afford to deploy. Russia themselves do not have enough combat assets, so hardly surprising the quantity of assets deployed in Syria.

Iran doesn’t have anything much to deploy in hardware and even the presence of few Iranians advisors have made the Israelis running to Moscow to complain and putting pressure on Russia to limit their presence. But what we hear from those moronic Russian fanboys is that Iran is not doing enough and that they need to deploy their combat assets.

And lastly but not the least…..what did the stupid Russians earn???
The US concluded military deals worth over $110 billion and the stupid Russians are in bed following the UN sanctions promoted by the same regimes which have imposed sanctions on Russia. Cant these stupids see how much they can earn from deals with Iran whose military needs almost all military hardware that Russia can supply?

    @ Berkut,
Thakyou for those details and pics.

    – Zhuk-A grew from ~600 to 1016 (iirc) t/r’s due to improvements to the cooling. The cooling is in part by fluid (plain water iirc) and air. In the Zhuk-A pics the red thingy at the back is the air intake, blue line running along the bottom is for water. Asked about if Okhotnik work is something he was familiar with, heard about it but didnt have direct connection to it. Same with Zaslon work.

Does it mean both of those units displayed now have 1016 t/r units?
Are they both using the T/R modules made from LTCC, if so why is the earlier model of Zhuk-A still so bulky in its front end? Probably those water cooling lines?

Do you have a rear end view of this Zhuk-AMEh unit? Is it still the designation?
    https://i.imgur.com/9BGZ3ri.jpg

What about the rumours of Egyptian MiG-29s to get the Zhuk-AMEh in the future deliveries?

INS Vikrant, going the same way as INS Vikramaditya. The shipyard gets all the blame for funding and other policy/decision related problems.

    @swerve

Are you sure? The ‘punch’ depends on fire control. Sensors, combat system etc. greatly affect its effectiveness. Also, consider the roles of these ships. Which would you rather have against submarines?

Think about the ASW capabilities. What equivalent of the OQQ-22 & OQR-3 does the Talwar-class have? It has a short-range ASW rocket launcher, but what that could match the Type 07? Teruzuki could have 24 of ’em aboard, & still carry more ESSM than Tabar has Shtil.

Yes, almost all of it depends on the sensors. But the combat effectiveness of sensors are all mostly based on publicized specs rather than based on proper combat exposure against any worthy opponents. So all those are likely to be subjective. This is not meant to say that Akizuki does not have a better integrated fit than Talwar class which is a mid-late 90s fit. I would love to see an upgrade some of which I have mentioned above.

Regarding ASW, Talwar class does have a bow mounted sonar and towed array. It can also be armed with those 40Km range 91RTE2 Klub anti-sub missiles as against the 22Km of Type07. But the max number will be limited to 8 and will be at the cost of anti-shipping missiles. So its not like Talwar class is handicapped with longer range anti-sub missiles.

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DEs-rzLXYAE4xCw.jpg: orig

Regarding the missile load out, If I understood the MK41 VLS correctly, with your mentioned 24 x Type07 anti-sub missiles, we are left with 8 cells for ESSM. The armament carried by both ships will looks like this –

    Akizuki
    – 8 x Type-90 anti-ship
    – 24 x Type07 anti-sub
    – 32 x ESSM (quad-pack per cell) air-defence

Compared to the much smaller Talwar class
    – 8 x Klub/Brahmos anti-ship/sub
    – 1 x RBU-6000 (72-96 rockets) anti-sub
    – 24 x Shtil-I air-defence
    – 64 x 9M311 (32 x missiles per Kashtan-M mount) air-defence

And this is a frigate which is oriented towards anti-shipping.

    @Blitzo

I think it might be easier just to straight up buy an export variant of the Gorshkov class if the IN wants Gorshkov-esque subsystems on a Talwar frigate.

Outside of superior AShMs, I think a Talwar class FFG’s sensor and weapons suite is quite a bit inferior to the Akizuki class. That isn’t a knock against the Talwar class — the Akizuki class is a larger warship by nearly 3000 tons with a much more recent sensor suite and fire control system in the form of FCS-3A, as well as the benefit of quad packed ESSMs in a 32 cell Mk-41

Going for a new platform without exploring the possibility to upgrade the existing platform/system is not a good idea. But its meant to do the job and oriented towards anti-shipping or anti-sub depending on the mission.

11356/Talwar class is like that of a T-72 family MBT, the basic design/layout is good and presents (and have shown) good upgrade potential. The current Talwar class does not have those integrated multi faceted arrays and publicized systems like Akizuki class.

Few changes/upgrades that I would love to see…

    1) An integrated mast atop the bridge
    2) It frees up the area aft of the island where currently the twin guidance unit and associated/other systems are installed.
    3) This area can instead be utilized to install 4 x twin-quad packed Kh-35UE cells (like that of Bal-E costal syatem)
    4) Larger sonar/dome
    5) Podberezovik-EТ1 long range 3D radar atop the hanger

    https://concern-agat.ru/images/Production/Gallery_for_ZOO_PC/BAL-E/Bal-E_02.jpg

^ Install 4 such unit amidship after clearing the area.
This is what we will get in terms of air-defence and anti-ship/land attack cruise missile numbers after a modification which is very much possible.

    Integrated mast (22350 cut/modify & paste)
36 x 9M317/M (based on the displayed model)
24-32 x Kh-35UE amidship (or Klub; consideration being weight rather than space)

    OR

    Integrated mast (22350 cut/modify & paste)
    36 x 9M317M
    16 x Kh-35UE amidship
    64 x 9M317M amidship (containerized like that of Buk-M3)

    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e6/INS_Trikand_%28F51%29-image10.jpg/1280px-INS_Trikand_%28F51%29-image10.jpg

^ It has got one of the most beautiful hull lines but a little cluttered above the bridge and amidship. With a good/simple modification/upgrade, even those cluttering will be gone.

MiG-29 is probably the only aircraft that did not see much action in Syria. Russians could have deployed some of their SMT for strike role. They can still deploy those K/KUB and gain some combat experience for the pilots.

Couple of earlier videos from other forums…
Interview by an Indian channel with DPR Korea’s ambassador to India, around 20-21 June, before the 1st launch of Hwasong-14 ICBM on 4th July. They were very categorical that they are ready for a moratorium on both nuclear and missile tests if the US reciprocate with a halt in the annual military exercises along the Korean borders.

Never saw the below video before, which shows the space centre and looks like they have revamped it. Looks really good. It also shows the young Kim inside his official VIP jet, Tu-134. No translation, only meant to get glimpse inside their facilities.
