Mark it is true us old timers only need four hours sleep a day it’s just that we need it four times a day.
That explains a lot 😀
Just very annoyed with myself for missing the last few items, but definately an early night next Friday.
No doubt – interestingly the shootings were down from 30 in 2007 and the knifings up from 75 in 2007.
Which must say something about the people involved. After all a shooting can be done at a distance, yet a stabbing is that much more involved and “personal”.

Not at the Cosford show it didn’t, flying display went on untill the end, with the Spitfire/Typhoon pair, wing walkers/Stearman, Harvard display team, and the Twisters pair all bravely displaying in the heavy rain!
Oh dear, I must have been more tired than I thought 😡 – and I only live 25/30 minutes away, so it wasn’t even an early start
The last I remember was watching the Spitfire/Typhoon display, I heard that the Sea Hawk was sent back to Yeovilton and I recall mention of postponing the display for half an hour and then that they were calling an end to it (with the special Spitfire/Hurricane display being cancelled) – ******.
Come Biggin Hill I’ll have to make sure that I go to bed as soon as I get home on the Friday, otherwise I’ll sleep through that as well. And they say that as you get older the less sleep you need. 🙁

Rain stopped play at YAM. Grrr.
At Cosford too.

WHY
I have a question for you, what about the upper classes, lords, peers etc is it ok for them to own loads of weapons?
Which is one reason why they won’t be banned.
As to an earlier posting about arming all the British Police, that would be all well and good if they wanted to be armed, but I think that the general public, and the serving poilicemen would rather have small groups of armed experts. It’s all very well having a gun in your hands, but putting the end to another life is a decision that I suspect most policemen would rather not have to take.
Myself, I am against any more banning – the last one hasn’t helped gun crime one iota, in fact it’s increased, criminals don’t pay attention to the ban.

My wish is to have the over-aged re-enactors back on the flightline as they always make me chuckle. Yes the outfits look the part, but the body inside should be decked out as a general rather than a 18 year old waist gunner.
I would just ask that the yellow hi-vis jackets get out of the way by the time the flight line walk is opened – let the press etc take their close ups before the flight line opens, there’s nothing more annoying than having bright yellow (and orange) jackets getting in the way, re-enactors I can put up with.
What do you think of the way the media handled the event ?
Well the Mirror obviously couldn’t get a picture of Bird with a gun, so they had someone come up with an “artists impression” of Bird holding a gun – a Thompson SMG, what were they thinking?

Very unlikely to have been modified in Service use. Many found their way into the hands of private users post-WWII and were gunsmith-modified (a famous example being one shown on the cover of one of the early James Bond novels).

Mark, very interesting.. would love to know more 🙂
Picked up a “Black Knight” folder from the H-B group at Duxford when Ormonde was still with us and I’m sure there was mention in there, have to try and find it (may take some time). There may also have been mention in that other Monthly Aeroplane magazine, but I’m clutching at straws.
Besides the aircraft, didn’t the Haydon-Baillies have a couple of MTBs somewhere that were to be restored?
