Those rocket pods and supporting metal rods were all locally attached by the Chinese. The choppers were imported strictly as (non-military?) transports by China United Airline without any extra miliary hardware fitted, in order to cut costs, I believe.
I’ll start of no. 8 with some funny noses……….. 😀
Think the 1st 2 are Y-8Js (i think)’….3rd & 4th??
The 1st one is Y-8 radar testbed
I didn’t see J-6, only JJ-5s … in Xinjiang
looks like an ECM pod
It should be tactical reconnaissance pod
looks like an ECM pod
FYI, United States has a consulate “conveniently” located in Chengdu, about 15 miles southeast of 132 Factory, I’m sure CIA is closely monitoring J-10’s test flights every minute… NO EP-3 is needed 🙂
The food was excellent! I still miss it very much! The JH-7A pic came from an official Chinese aviation magazine (Aviation World), the same one where that J-11A pic came from. The S/N should be correct.
That’s Chengdu/132 Factory. Trust me! I once lived in Chengdu for a few years.
Thanks for the observation. It it my subjective impression that the background of this picture is quite different from the background where we had the earlier darker green 1002-1009 prototypes were tested. Chengdu seems more “greeny” and tropical, and the area has a lot more trees, while this picture looks colder and dryer.
PLAAF JH-7A
Looks like a 7th Divison J-11A to me.
Wake up guys! Wake up!

Z-9G….?? PS…??? Mr. HT, need your skills here….
This came as a surprise to me. Until now there was no news that this variant flew and even entered the Army service! It must have flown at Harbin when its model was unveiled at last year’s Zhuhai Airshow.
Here is another PL-12/SD-10 testing photo at the same airbase

looks real to me, probably taken in the northwest desert where its weapon systems were tested
Face to face with J10:
Interesting photo! Where did you get it?
