Thanks for sharing these Chris – always a joy to see and hear these old girls fly!
By the sounds of it Moggy will need at least 6 inches…. :diablo:
HAR!! Bad boy, TT 😀
Well I for one would love to see these… get you-tubing!
Roy.
Don’t know if this will be of any help, but whilst grepping through archives at http://www.britishpathe.com/ I did find some clips of the princess. Might be worth browsing to see her in action (?).

Just in case you need one.
Many thanks – already got it bookmarked 😉

We can see all sides of the colour scheme argument. And as volunteers at the Midland Air Museum we have heard and taken part in all the debates on may occasions.
Alberts opinion holds a lot of weight she did only wear the colours of Air France and Air Inter. And really yes she should be put back into one of those liveries.
However there is the publics desire to see an aircraft in their favourite colours. Ie something they saw or maybe flew in many years ago. And lets be honest her previous owners dont appeal hugely to the British public.
Equally the supporters association we are presently setting up (Watch this space for details) needs the public to join in so we can achieve our aims of making her live. A colourscheme that appeals to the public will surely aid our marketing efforts for interest and membership? So we do need to take onboard their opinions.
I could also add that nobody ever comments on the BBMF decision to repaint their aircraft on a regular basis in markings they didnt operationally wear. Its a way that keeps the public interested and the flight operational. So do we go down the route that each time she needs a repaint we tell a differant part of the Viscount story by placing her in a differant airlines livery? Would we be wrong to do that if it kept Vicky alive?
So thats the decision we have to make. We admit we are not going to please everybody all of the time but please lets just enjoy the fact that we have invested already a lot of money and time into preserving a Viscount when a lot of other people havnt stepped up to the plate.
No matter what colours she will reappear in (and we havn’t decided yet). Surely thats all that matters?
BRAVO !!
Roy.
I would imagine that there would be a real rush to get the fuselage together not only for looks but to stop corrosion from attacking the fuselage joints etc?
She’s been outside for a long long time so there is already some remedial work to be done, we expected that! Overall though, I’ve not seen anything frighteningly bad, nothing a wire brush, some lube and a coat of etch primer wont fix.
The real rush is because we’re not at a live airfield or a museum but on the grounds of a 4-star Marriott hotel – and they understandably like things to be ‘pretty’. The hotel management have always been wonderfully supportive of what we’re doing and are well aware of the size of the ANCF project. We are incredibly lucky and very very grateful to the Marriott. We don’t want to cause them any upset.

Hope everything goes smoothly Roy. Got any ideas for immediate future plans? How soon after she’s arrived will we see signs of reassembly?
There will be a rush to get the fuse/wing/gear together quickly so that she at least _looks_ like an aeroplane and so we can get painting. Once that is done we can take our time fitting all the control surfaces and other goodies.
Longer term… the cabin will need some seating and lighting up the cockpit has been talked about. It might even become a sim cockpit – who knows.
Roy.
Maybe I’m biased, but the Eagle scheme always looked good on a 700srs.
I know I’m biased – everything looks good in Eagle colours! 😀
Roy.
Absolutely fantastic news! The excellent reputation that MAM and it’s people enjoy is very well deserved and I can’t think of anywhere better for such a beautiful aircraft. Well done lads, and good luck !
Stopped in to Kemble yesterday to see a variety of people and noticed that the engines have gone and heard that the fuselage sections were supposed to be transported tomorrow, can anyone confirm?
Yup. Engines arrived here at Speke yesterday along with various flying control surfaces. The ‘smaller’ bits and some support equipment will continue to come up over the next week or so with the fuse sections and wing (hopefully) by the end of february.
Roy.
Ken who? :diablo:
Think you might be a bit late with this one as doesn’t the deadline for sign up say 22nd January?
Regards,
