We’re very lucky. The old terminal at Speke airport is a listed building and the original apron has a conservation order on it stating that it may only be used for the purpose for which it was built – suits us just fine!
Something I need to check on though (since I know little about such things) is that I believe there was a conservation ruling stating that the view from the terminal out across the river mersey may not be impeded. Is such a ruling possible? Anyone with more knowledge than I care to respond?
I will look at the english heritage option – the more we can do to reinforce the heritage of these sites the more chance we have of stopping greedy developers or short-sighted councils destroying them.
As Observer points out – ANYONE can make a difference here, just get off your ar5e and do it!

Last I heard she was 2 weeks out – but that was maybe 2 months ago?

Great idea, not only for the armchair enthusiasts but it could also help with communication between similar projects. sharing of parts, manuals, knowledge etc.
I’ll certainly contribute what I can.
go for it!

Quite simply Glorious!!
Thank God we’ve got people like Peter keeping these alive for us. Thanks Peter!

aww, does it _have_ to be a Hunter? 😉
Oh it’s all too much for me – heartbreaking.
When I’m king, they’ll all fly again.

Yeah… bring it up to Liverpool. We won’t charge you a penny 🙂
Seriously, what robert says is true – at £143 per day they are telling you to move.

The best way to get an ‘accurate’ account in press is for you to give them the words.
Jeepers Doc, you really are an optimist!
I’ve tried your method several times and believe me – that doesn’t work either!

Did anyone see the Chris Barrie series ‘Massive Machines’? One programme featured a super guppy IIRC it was the one at Bournemouth? I may be wrong though but they opened it up for the series.
Pretty sure that was at Brunty.

I knew we shouldn’t have parked her in Liverpool …
Mr Coltrane is one of the very few celebrities I’d actually like to meet. His passion for all things mechanical is a joy to behold !

can we have another caption foto
by all means…
The new stealth fighter causes some unexpected problems…
Here comes a Canberra… wow!
Look. here’s a Phantom! WOW !!
And here’s the Vulcan. *gulp* *tremble* I’m bloody glad he’s on OUR side !!
I’ve seen all sorts of aircraft over the years and I love em all, but the the Vulcan has a presence, a charisma and a sense of threat that others don’t. I’m confident that the youngsters will see what we all saw and it will take a very special place in their minds too. The only aircraft that comes close imho is the Lightning. (gives me serious wood!).
Roy.
I loved them all and built as many as my pocket money would allow!
The one I built most was the Westland Scout. to this day I think it is the most beautiful helo made. The diminutive skids broke easily in a childs hands though…
Worst model was not airfix but a vacform Sea Hawk. I’ve never encountered one of these before and one look told me I’d never manage it. Luckily for me, Malcolm Kinnear (artist and modeller extraordinaire) kindly built this into a wonderful model (of MY aircraft!) for me. I think this was the last model he built before he sadly had a stroke which put paid to his art and modelling 🙁
I do have a small stash of models yet to be built… one day… one day…
Roy.
