They look excellent Mike – as I’d expect from you!
Roy.
Absolutely fantastic!
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post these – would love captions when you have time.
I too would argue that these are probably the finest images ever posted on the this forum.
Roy.
Nice 🙂
Excuse my ignorance, but why is she wearing D-IBFW on the fuse and wings but D-EBFW on the tail and instrument panel ?
Nah, s’not mine – posting this for someone without access.
My “clearout” will be chucking stuff in boxes and then loading them into your boot 😉
Cracking thread here, I’ve just come in late, but some great discussion here and very useful too, as I’m building the Sea Hawk for FS2004 at the mo and am about to do WV908 as she stands today.
My only quibble is that you should be doing WV838 not ‘908 :diablo:
If I can help with pilots notes or any other stuff, please don’t hesitate to yell. Many photo’s already online at wv838.com
Roy.
What is interesting is that once the tyres went flat, allowing the aircraft to drop a few inches and thus introducing some slack in the hawser that holds her in place – she has obviously ‘flown’ and is now several inches from where she started.
Despite the damage inflicted by both vandals and those with curious fingers, she should be good for many years yet.
Yup, that’s the one !
I spotted this during my seemingly endless google search.
The Cambrian site has one colour photo, fairly poor quality. I guess we’ll trawl the standard BS381 colour set and pick the nearest from that. Best we can do I suppose.
Thanks.
*BUMP* *CRASH* *BANG* Nobody ?
Roy, as a Welshman I take great offence at the implications of your post.:D:D:D
(P.S. His name is Gwyndaf and I take him everywhere I go.)
LOL! You’re not a real welshman. Real welshmen come from NORTH Wales. Erryrs to be precise :diablo:
Errrr Mark, the first photo on the 2008 page shows what looks alarmingly like a camouflage sheep in the foreground.
Just what do you lot get up to at CockpitFest! :diablo:
The guys at fort Paull in Hull will need one! Just a thought.
Already in hand I believe !
Thanks,
Roy.
For what little my opinion is worth, three of us are already laying plans to attend next year with two sea hawk cockpits – one restored, one not (yet) – and the reason for the effort is to meet up with like-minded people and hopefully put faces to the e-mail and forum names of people we’ve come to know over the years. I also understand that there might be some beer there :diablo:
There are; the original BS381 came out in 1930 and some colours…
I knew there’d be an expert! 😀
Thanks Mark.
Then I’d say “Alpine” is an approximation. As I say, Sky was one of the colours which was transferred across into the BS381 colour range and all references I’ve ever seen only refer to it as such.
I say Alpine because BS colour swatches were used to compare against an original panel. No other colour came even close to a match.
However, I am certainly no expert. Are there different BS ranges? I seem to recall some issues the MoD guys had with BS colours and although they used the same colours, they gave them different names.
No doubt someone around here can give us a potted history ?
The ‘Sky’ colour on the earlier sea hawks is actually a BS colour called “Alpine”. I’m not sure of any RAL equivalent.
Just so ya know !
