Does anyone know or have any updates on the shack nose?
I was talking with Terry Patching at Caernarfon the other day and he reckoned it would be there in about a weeks time.

My Hero! ๐
Thanks Rob. Two things I’m looking for:
1. is the distance between the main instrument panel and the two small panels which sit above and either side. I _think_ the left panel sits further forward than the right one – can you confirm?
2. On the right console is an oblongish red warning covering three lights. What does it say??
3. There is no 3.
Very sincerest thanks.
Roy. (covered in crap from spending all day painting his sea hawk).
Bravo!
Fantastic news. I’ll bet there’s a few pints being downed in celebration by NW regulars ๐

Recently restored at the museum was Sea Hawk WV797. Malcolm and Gordon have to take credit for this project and considering how long it took (not very long at that) it now looks very nice indeed.
Wow… what a beautiful job. Nice to see a Sea Hawk getting some much deserved TLC. Thank you for sharing the pics with us.
Don’t suppose you’ve any decent cockpit pics of the Sea Hawk do you?
Cheers,
Roy.
WV. I’ll pop something here or PM you when something arrives. This is a big learning curve for both 1Group and myself The e-mail address I was passed was given to me privately so it is probably inappropriate I give it out on a public forum. I’m not hiding anything, just not betraying a trust.
Very many thanks Chris – would love to hear what you can uncover.
Roy.
Anyone got a bucket-full of money and somewhere to restore the Prince at Caernarfon? She’s ripe for restoration – but for how long? *sniff*
Hey, that car will get me to Brunty on July 8th which just happens to be the next run of the LPG Lightnings! (Formula student races are at Brunty).
There’s a method in my madness.
Roy.
Jeepers – badges are more complex than I thought.
Many thanks for all the info though guys, and Chris – if you do turn anything up, I’d love to know about it.
Roy.
Roy, If you check the RAFHT web site for Station Crests, you will not find RAF Speke listed. The list on the site is based on the list of crests approved by the Sovereign that is held by the College of Heralds, hence thereโs a good chance that Speke never had an approved Station Crest (Swinderby never had one either (they used the School of Recruit Training crest when I was there)).
That would explain why I’ve not been able to find one!
Thanks for the info. Surely no station would have been considered complete though without a badge. I know it was wartime but… would they have used anything?
Roy.
Obviously from the grass roots side of aviation ๐
Sorry – just spent 3 hours painting our race car chassis and I think the fumes got me.
Roy.
If I may jump in here? I’ve been looking for the station badge for RAF Speke (Liverpool, WWII) with no success – so if anyone has helpful hints I would appreciate them too.
Thanks,
Roy.
E-Bay and Vulcans -possibly not a brilliant combination !
Oh I don’t know… there’s a Manchester bidder who could be interested. ๐
Roy.
Outstanding!
Makes my efforts look pitiful ๐ฎ

Not tried posting a link before… but here goes!

Really amazing – I do hope a print is available.
Cheers,
Roy.
Ah… silly me !
