An IAF Jaguar fighter aircraft prepares to take off from the rebuilt and now fully operational Car Nicobar airbase in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago on April 14, 2005. In the background are Sukhoi-30s. ( Associated Press )

    Thanks to Jagan.

    Great stuff,kudos to Jagan Pillarisetti.
By the way, those are Su-30Ks I believe, aren’t the MKIs supposed to be based over there?I mean for maritime strike/CAPS role?

    Yes I do think so

    Reasons

    1) US has been using F-16s for the longest time than any other airforce in the world. They have the best F-16 pilots and planes in the best possible shape. They will be desperate to beat MK1 (at the same time studying it closely) and wouldn’t want a defeat to Vipers they way F-15 were defeated in Cope India

    2) India has a lot of confidence on MK1 and it had taken a great step in modern aviation by inducting these aircrafts. They wouldn’t want a crappy F-16 beat it out, especially if the opposing airforce is of the manufacturing nation of Falcons and Vipers.

    3) India has, I guess, already rejected the idea of F-16s and F-18s induction in IAF inventory. If MK1 is unable to get more than 60% success against F-16s, think want your media and politicians would do!!! Your airforce would be more in trouble in that regard and would want to prove that MK1 is the better aircraft and for that they will have to take rather extreme measures … which include use of best tactics and to some extent sensitive equipment.

Air excercises are no joke, remember that. There is more than just pride at stake!!!

And Sameer, please have some knowledge about US and keep track of posts. I didn’t used the word “if” in my earlier post to masquraid around. Secondly, you don’t dictate USAF policy, so there is no telling what. If you know about training institutions of USA than you would never have said such a thing.

The US training manuals and style is one of the most advance in the world. They include the latest findings in training within days. I bet that within a month after the exercises, whatever US pilots will learn about MK1 will be properly documented and included in pilot training program, and since there is barely any differance between training of local or foreign nation pilots, it is hard to believe that PAF would not know what USAF found out.

The pilot training also include use of desired aircraft against the best aircrafts in the world or of similar generation, against possible nations using these aircrafts, style and known tactics of those airforces, technological know-how and what not. So I hope you do understand what I mean :diablo:

Everythin’s ok,only mention the Su-30 as MKI and not MK1.
    Peace

Both the Shivalik & the Satpura have been launched.

Oops forgot – that Marut BD-463 is from the Nehru Science Center, nearer to Mumbai/bombay if not IN it.

its the second Marut prototype , and the earliest example to have survived. Full marks to those guys for building that shed – we dont see people taking that kind of care too often.

U’re absolutely right Jagan, that’s in Nehru Science Centre,Worli Mumbai proper, was well maintained in the 70s when we were in school, won’t forget the school workshops in there and our rush to get into the cockpit, now it’s not good,my kid found two dead monitors in it.

interesting color scheme on the Egyptian Mirage-2000.They were ordered a little before the IAF Mirage-2k, and sports the kind of camouflage that’s now seen commonly on the IAF fleet.

I’ve always wondered, why exactly the RDM radars needed a black radome, with even IAF new Mirages with the upgraded RDM-7 radars sporting the black radome. compare that to AdA’s Mirage-2000C fighters and the Mirage-2000-5 fighters, all have radomes that are matt-gray in color. can anyone throw any light on this question ?

Most of the M2K export versions have black painted radomes, pls check Hellenic AF also, only if any country opts other than that.

    TO PLA………

    Quote……..
Training in the US of A does not make IAF super. O I forgot. That seems to be raising confidence… Cool for you. Joining with a few jags. And those ground attack F15’s in India where just to get more funds for F22. Don’t tell me they lost with ease.

Please get ur facts right, the Eagles in Cope India were F-15C and are fighters not strike ACs, accept this.

Didn’t the SU-37 suppose to have this kind of system?

Even the Indian MKIs have the same system. 🙂

Nah, this one ain’t Indian. Camoufalge of the birds just does not fit, even the landscape reminds me of Europe rather than India. I bet it is Hungarian..

It is Indian, check the IAF roundel below the tail rotor.
